For me, reading a Marquez novel is one of the most consistent experiences from start to finish, and this is no exception. I never get really excited at different parts- the end is no more thrilling than the middle. But there's also no weak sections- if you tune out you risk missing some of his signature comic-poetry. And in this one, you get to learn some interesting history of the origins of modern South America through Bolivar's reminiscing.

Reading and water are quite #goodtogether , especially on a beautiful day like today visiting Kingston, Ontario . Really enjoyed our visit- full of great restaurants, coffee, parks by the bay, and at least three bookshops all in close proximity (book haul from one of which to be posted later). 🌅📖🇨🇦 @Kalalalatja @Cinfhen
I‘ve been reading through Márquez this year and this novel on the last year of Simon Bolívar‘s life was a tough one for me. I didn‘t mind it, but never really understood it and was never really excited. ?

I couldn‘t remember if I read this one in my late teens tear through as many of Marquez‘s books as I could get my hands on. It doesn‘t matter, it‘s all beautiful. Someday I‘ll read one of his in its original, untranslated 🤞🏽
For #fallintobooks #southamericanwriters I chose one of my favorites #gabrielgarciamarquez

What is on your July TBR List?
Jose Palacios, his oldest servant, found him floating naked with his eyes open in the purifying waters of his bath and thought he had drowned.
#Mapsinbooks this is the first Marquez novel I read when I was a teenager, it made me thirst for more. All of his novels have had a wonderful influence on my reading journey....❤️📚📖
I could read all of his books over and again, every day forever...
