My first book finished for #JoyousJanuary and oh, how I loved this book! Lucia is Kit's upstairs neighbor, and when Kit ventures up to Lucia's apartment one day Lucia tells her all about growing up in an Italian family in Greenwich village in the 1950's and working as a seamstress in the custom department at B. Altman department store.

I think I first did a #redstack picture a few years ago for another Litsy challenge! The bookcase later went to my coworker, but I still have all the books except the tagged one. Kili is swooping in from the left because he‘s fascinated by the netting. #humbleharvest #catsoflitsy

Man this book threw me for a loop! It started out a little slow for me...then all of a sudden I found myself really disliking Lucia! At first she was kind of an It girl, the type of girl every girl would like to be. But then I found myself wanting to shake some dang sense into her! Like most everyone she is obviously flawed (which is well written) but it made it a little tough to cheer for her. However in the end everything seems righted :)

A Romance Novel: Lucia Lucia. This is the second novel I‘ve read from Trigiani, the first being her wildly popular Big Stone Gap. My grandma is actually from Big Stone, and I‘ve visited the town. I throughly enjoyed reading Big Stone Gap and I‘m very excited to read this one!

Finally read an Adriana Trigiani book that gave me that wonderful, warm fuzzy feeling I got from the first books I read by her! Yay! Lucia Sartori, 25 year old daughter of Italian immigrants, tries to assert her independence as she works in the custom dress design department at B. Altman & Co in 1950 NYC. That's a blast from my past. Quite an icon! I loved (and miss) that store!

Bluebird Forgot to add: Cassandra Campbell brings great voice to the characters and confirms her standing as one of my favorite audio narrators. 6y

So.....I'm giving Adriana Trigiani another try. I loved the two books pictured on the right, but no others I've read have met my expectations. Some have been better than others, but nothing nearly as good as those two. I've read the first few chapters and am heartened so far. Here's hoping this is a winner for me!

robinb I need to try her again! I read one of her earlier books but don‘t really remember much about it...it was too long ago, but I think I liked it. 🤔 6y
Bluebird @robinb I haven't read Big Stone Gap yet. It was the other one I considered reading since I'd heard some good things about it. Ultimately I decided on Lucia, Lucia since I owned it already and love the narrator: Cassandra Campbell. 6y
robinb @Bluebird I‘ll have to keep in mind the two that you‘ve recommended here....any particular order on those? 6y
Bluebird @robinb Either one would be fine to start. Shoemaker's Wife was my favorite, but some of my friends liked Very Valentine better. Very Valentine is first in a trilogy, but it definitely works well on its own. I never even read the third book due to the poor reviews. 6y
robinb @Bluebird good to know, thanks! I‘ll also look forward to hearing what you think of this one. 6y
