Read for #BookedInTime I don‘t read much historical fiction set in 17th Century England/during the English Civil War so I doubt this book would have crossed my path otherwise, but I‘m glad it did. Du Maurier sets her story in Cornwall where Honor Harris a young & impetuous woman falls in love with a Royalist military leader only to be pulled apart time & again, first by an accident & then by war. Longer than it needed to be but still a good read.

A soft pick as it's slow to start.
How would you say Fowey?

Finish King's General and Hijab Butch Blues
Continue A History of Treason and The Restless Republic (which I started last night)
This may be my favorite du Maurier, even though I really liked Frenchman's Creek. You would think a crippled woman couldn't change the history of a nation, wouldn't you? But, you would be wrong. Set during the Civil War between Parliament and Charles 1, Honor Harris helps the man she loves. Even against his sister. I was really hoping there would be a sword fight between the two women and I wanted to see how du Maurier would make that happen.
This really is HF—17th century English Civil War. Not my favorite duMaurier by far. Rebecca and My Cousin Rachel have, as a whole, more engaging storylines. The writing is beautiful, but the novel seemed long and dragged for me in the middle.

I enjoyed this mainly because Du Maurier‘s writing is so lovely. I would have liked it more if it hadn‘t been so long.
Received this beauty in the mail today. I placed a book depository order in the moment I saw this on a booktuber from the UK's video where she discussed this. Rebecca is all I have read by Daphne Du Maurier and I for sure want to fix that.
Re-reading one of my old favorites for book club (Guess who got to pick this time?!). Forgot how much I love the writing and the strong Heroine. Having a great time!
