Another unexpected 5 ⭐ for a dystopian book! Thanks for sending me this book @TheAromaofBooks ! Stacking the next one (and won't put it off for so long).

Cinfhen This is a very popular novel! It‘s taught in almost EVERY middle school/ high school in the US. (edited) 1mo
jenniferw88 @Cinfhen It's not taught at all in the UK! 1mo
BarbaraBB I don‘t know it either, Jennifer! But 5 stars for a dystopian read is amazing 🤣 1mo

AshleyHoss820 This is one of my favorites! So poignant! ☺️ 1mo
Librarybelle I did like this one! A modern classic! 1mo
TheAromaofBooks This book is so thought-provoking!! I did not enjoy the other books in the series as well as I felt they lacked the creepy “this could be your future“ vibe that this book exudes so well. I'll be interested to hear your thoughts when you get to them!! 1mo
Bluebird @Cinfhen it wasn‘t taught in mine! Lol. I never heard if the book until a few years ago. Great review! Stacked! 1mo
Cinfhen Did you grow up in the US @Bluebird ? I feel like it was a staple during the 90‘s and aughts when my kiddos were in school and actually my son was taught the Giver in Israel as part of his English for English speakers class in 9th grade. 1mo
Bluebird @Cinfhen yes, California. I just looked up the book and see it was written in 1993. That explains it, it was written well past my school days 😂 1mo
Cinfhen Ha! That‘s the answer @Bluebird 1mo

squirrelbrain I think it‘s Foy, a bit like Claire Foy or maybe even like the French leaf - feuille. 2mo
jenniferw88 @squirrelbrain it is Foy! It's lucky I have Cornish relatives because I know I'd have been reading it wrong in my head (probably fow-ey!) 😂 2mo
Librarybelle Nice! I‘ve not read this one by her 2mo

I came for Nicola Yoon & Angie Thomas but, wow, I loved all of the stories in this book! These 6 authors did a fantastic job weaving these characters and their stories through each short story.

Mehso-so

Looked through all my remaining prompts for challenges on Storygraph and this cane up for #dystopian #52bookclub2023. As it was nice & short (38 pages) & I was dreading this prompt, I thought it would do nicely as I could read it quickly & get the prompt over & done with.

It was OK? I didn't really get dystopian vibes from it.

Cinfhen Nice to cross off a prompt you‘ve been dreading 😁 2mo
BarbaraBB So many reviews! You‘ve read a lot lately! 2mo
Librarybelle I‘m not a fan of dystopian. It‘ll be a challenge for me to read for this prompt. 2mo

jenniferw88 @Librarybelle This was nice and short. I did a lot of research into them before I committed as they're very hit and miss with me. There's also this one that I saw over on Threads, which is more like a thriller with dystopian vibes: 2mo
jenniferw88 @Librarybelle oops, got my book recommendations for dystopia mixed up! The one in my previous comment has an intense dystopian world. This one is the book with dystopian themes, so not defined as one: 2mo
Librarybelle Thanks for the info!!! 2mo
