I‘m enjoying the interaction between the pets; Ember the black Tom cat(!) and Molly the new puppy. I think they‘re winning me over.
It does sound a bit stilted when Phryne‘s (pronounced Fry knee) foreign admirers address her as ‘Beautiful lady‘ all the time.
NB: she is 5 foot 2.

I‘m breaking my own rule and starting a series on book 9! I think I can get away with it because I‘m familiar with the series via that TV show that I just love- Ms Fisher‘s Murder Mysteries. This is an ARC I‘m woefully behind on. I‘m hoping to clear my mystery ARCs on NetGalley this month. Only a few pages in and I recognize the familiar jaunty tone, lush visual descriptions of costumes and clothes and many men to keep Ms Fisher entertained.
What a bloody awful weekend I just had! First Friday was 40C(104F), I went to dinner at my youngest new flat but couldn‘t get in the security door so stood in direct sun for 20 mins & nearly fainted, then Sat was 47C(116F), had a meeting with the celebrant in a non air con house & nearly melted. So I‘ve been sick as a dog with heat exhaustion🥵On the plus side, I continued my #PhryneMarathon with this outing about a murder in the Jewish community.
In the 9th book in the series, Phryne Fisher is investigating the poisoning of a young man in a bookshop at the Eastern Market, and the wrongful arrest of one Miss Sylvia Lee, and finds herself plunged into a world of Jewish politics, alchemy, poison and chicken soup. All whilst treating any handsome young man in the same way that Male action heroes treat attractive young women.
Another in the Phryne Fisher series. I love a bit of Phryne. She is great for getting you out of the book doldrums. A good fun mystery.
I‘m on book 9 in my reread of the Phryne Fisher series via audiobook. I did some #audiocooking last night and really enjoyed this! On my first read through of the series, this was my least favorite, but on reread it actually improved. I bumped my rating up from 3 to 4⭐️. I would highly recommend this series to anyone interested in historical fiction or mysteries. There‘s not a bad book in the bunch imo.

Bk 9 of the Phryne Fisher series has been reread. I was planning on switching to some other Australian authors but I‘ve now been bitten by the #phryneappreciationclub bug & need to finish rereading the whole series! Not that it‘s a hardship at all. Still going strong with my personal #loveozfictionreadathon🇦🇺 Of which this is bk5. Onto the next, Death Before Wicket!🏏
I was not as keen on this one as I have been on some of her other books. Maybe the plot was too complicated or there were too many characters, or maybe I wasn‘t paying enough attention. I wish there was a ‘meh‘ sticker! 😀
My first finished book of 2018! This is my second Phryne Fisher book- the first was for #whodunitbymail and I loved it! I love Phryne and can‘t wait to read another. These books are just plain fun. A great way to start the new year!
After a leisurely (meaning super slow) 13-mile bike ride, I've definitely earned tonight's #booksandbooze 😁😁

My #currentlyreading for the #weekendgiveaway from @Liberty. I'm moving on to the next Phryne Fisher and my book from #readdog subscription box. Thank you, Liberty 😁
My second Miss Fisher mystery with some fabulous Phryne frankness (ie telling her new young lover's mother that was was only borrowing her son and she'd give him back), an interesting mystery and a full cast of quirky characters. I did get a little bored with the Zionism and alchemy back stories though.
Babysitting my nephew who is having a (hopefully) long sleep so I can get some Phryne time.
If you already know you love Phryne Fisher, you'll like this book too. A layer of Zionism and Kabbalah that I wasn't too interested in but a sexy fling and a dangerous bookshop! I always end up needing tea after reading these. #LitsyPartyofOne
😂😂😂 #litsypartyofone
I'm taking day three off with a bad cold, mostly I think I just crashed after coming home from Oregon. But today I feel more like reading so might as well kick off my#litsypartyofone ...this isn't a new title so I'm not sure why it was listed in edelweiss, that's happened a lot to me lately and I need to pay more attention. I've read books 1-3 and seen the show and I don't think you miss much if you skip around.
I'm clocking in at 57%
Can't go any further, can't keep my eyes open. Not too bad for me, anyway. I'm enjoying the book, it has that distinguished #MissFisher flavour

I'm already a huge fan of The Hon. Phryne Fisher, so this, the 9th in the series, didn't disappoint. I love books that teach us something as well as entertain, this book has a lot of knowledge about Jewish customs & culture and it also prompted me to read up and learn more. I think if we all learnt more about each other there would be less hate in the world. The unknown is only scary until it is known. #phrynemysterytour
I've decided to give Dame Agatha a rest for now, but continuing in the same vein with Australia's younger & feistier version of Miss Marple, but much less of a "lady". Phryne is drawn into the world of Yiddish, rabbis, kosher dinners & Kadimah when she's asked to investigate the death of a devout student in Miss Sylvia Lee's bookshop. #phrynemysterytour
