Murder in Montparnasse
Murder in Montparnasse: Phryne Fisher's Murder Mysteries 12 | Kerry Greenwood
In her twelfth adventure, the Hon. Phryne Fisher must unravel a mystery that began way back in 1918 when seven Australian soldiers unknowingly witness a murder in Paris. Ten years later and two of them are dead... The divine Phryne Fisher returns to lead another dance of intrigue. Seven Australian soldiers, carousing in Paris in 1918, unknowingly witness a murder and their presence has devastating consequences. Ten years later, two are dead ... under very suspicious circumstances. Phryne's wharfie mates, Bert and Cec, appeal to her for help. They were part of this group of soldiers in 1918 and they fear for their lives and for those of the other three men. It's only as Phryne delves into the investigation that she, too, remembers being in Montparnasse on that very same day. While Phryne is occupied with memories of Montparnasse past and the race to outpace the murderer, she finds troubles of a different kind at home. Her lover, Lin Chung, is about to be married. And the effect this is having on her own usually peaceful household is disastrous.

Book 12 in my Phryne Fisher reread is one of the best in the series and one of my favorite episodes on the show as well. I love this one because we get some of Phryne‘s backstory in Paris during the war. As always, the cast of supporting characters is stellar and the audiobook narrator is phenomenal. I‘d highly recommend this series. 5⭐️

TheEllieMo I‘m on number 18 of my first time of reading. Your tagged book is definitely the best in the series (so far). 1mo
JenlovesJT47 @TheEllieMo book 18 (Dead Man‘s Chest, right?) is my absolute favorite book in the series! I can‘t wait to get to it in my reread. I‘m listening to the audiobooks for the reread and they‘re pretty awesome. 🤓 1mo
Amie Definitely one of the best books in the series (and my favorite cover!), and one of my favorite episodes in the TV series, because of the scene pictured :) 1mo
JenlovesJT47 @Amie me too! Can‘t wait until the movie comes out!! 1mo

Bk12 of my Phryne Fisher reread is done ✅This is one of my favorite Phryne stories because it gives the reader part of her backstory, where you find out about her running away at 17 to drive ambulances in WWI France, on to her becoming an artists model in Paris when the Great War ended. The secondary storyline about Lin Chungs bride & Mr Butlers umbridge combine to make this a thoroughly delightful novel. #phryneappreciationclub💃🏻

#SeptemberDanes #day13 #BonjourMadame I was going to post the French classic Les Liaisons Dangereuses for this prompt but realised I don‘t have a photo of my copy & as I‘m back on crutches(my knee died again🙄)getting to it is too hard.So I‘m going with my fave Phryne novel.Bert & Cec ask Phryne for help after their fellow soldiers are killed.Realising it all goes back to an unsolved murder in Paris after WWI,Phryne discovers she is also involved.

Started this yesterday on the train home. From what l hear, this is supposed to be one of the best of the series.
I'm eager to learn more about Phrynie's past.

I have a question. From another novel, l had the impression Phrynie was approaching her 40s, but from this book's calcolato, she is 28.
Anyone may illuminate me?

Amie Yes, she's 28. I think the first book in the series gives her age, too. 2y
JazzFeathers @amie So that is? I kind of think that's s bit too young for the kind of experienced woman Phryne is depicted to be 🤔 2y

Comfort reading because fucking hackers have stolen all (literally I have £10 left in the world) my fucking money and it does not look like I will get it back. Thank goodness for Phryne, who always saves the day.

I get to comfort read whatever I want for a week on the strength of this, right?

rabbitprincess Oh no! And especially at this time of year, what a thing to have happen ☹️ I am so sorry. 2y

I have checked off a few in #tbrbingo world! This Phryne Fisher story was set up with flashbacks of her time in Paris during WWI so I used it as a book set in Italy or France. It was a cute little mystery. Not the cleverest tie together at the end but still satisfying enough.

JazzFeathers Oh, l'm sorry to hear the ending is kind of weak. I've enjoyed it so far. Trying to finishing it tonight 2y

Yummy Indian food dinner with family- now finally starting #lisypartyofone. A whole night for me, Emmy & Poe, and a October Fest beer. Reading the more light hearted Phryne Fisher, then some Hedgehog- bookclub is a week from Tuesday & I have slightly under 200pages to go. Finding I need to read this book in spurts & offset it with other books.📚🍺

#TBRtemptation post 1! This is the 12th installment in the Phryne Fisher series. Set in 1920s Australia. 7 Australian soldiers carousing in 1918 Paris unknowingly witness a murder. 10 years later, two of them are dead under suspicious circumstances. Phryne's friends, Bert & Cec, are part of that group, and come to her for help. She realizes she was in town that same day. #blameLitsy #blameMrBook 😎

JazzFeathers I'm going to read this soon. Sounds interesting. When war is introduced in this series, there always something interesting involved 2y
ValerieAndBooks I haven't started this series because I don't like the name Phryne at all 😬. I guess I'm weird 😂! 2y
GlassAsDiamonds Phryne!!!! LOVE this series, they are SO good ( @ValerieAndBooks - and they explain the name, it's hysterical and pointy! They're really good, give them a go!). 😊😊😊 2y

#feistyfeb #day26 #artdeco I love the Art Deco period so much. The flappers, beads, the charleston, Tiffany lamps & columns. One of the reasons I love the Blue Mountains so much is because its heyday was the 20s & 30s so the architecture and vibe is so Art Deco. In books,I have a few series set then, but Phryne Fisher is the most Art Deco of them all. She's a bright young thing,a woman out there on her own kicking arse. Flapper beads, feathers & all.

MaleficentBookDragon These sound fun! More for my #TBR #blameitonlitsy I like these covers better than the ones with photos. (edited) 3y

Love love love this series! No12 in The Hon.Phryne Fisher Mysteries, this was fantastic. I loved the Paris 1918 parts, I loved the Hugh Collins part, loved the missing girl investigation, and love Lin Chung & his relationship with Phryne. The only thing I didn't love is that it's the last book I have, chances of getting to a bookstore are zero & there's no chance of getting an online order before xmas😫 #phrynemysterytour

Currently reading No12 in the Phryne Fisher Mysteries. In the tv series, this is my favourite episode, about Paris after the Great War,Bert & Cec witnessing the murder of a painter & Phryne as a life model for the same painter. The book is just as good, with Phryne trying to find whose killing off Bert&Cec's mates whilst also trying to find a young women who is betrothed to a French chef & dealing with Mr Butler who is upset about Lin Chungs marriage.

#seasonsreadings2016 #day8 #artrelatedbooks When Bert & Cec come to Phryne asking her to help them find out who is killing their friends, little does she know that there is a connection between the murder of a painter in Montparnasse after the Great War,some diggers on their way home & a man she hoped she'd left behind in Paris in 1918. One of my favourite Phryne stories, it gives more of her backstory, about her service during the war & after it.
