American Vampire, Volume 2
American Vampire, Volume 2 | Scott Snyder
12 posts | 25 read | 6 to read
While trafficking in a bestselling sub-genre, AMERICAN VAMPIRE introduces a new strain of vampire a more muscular and vicious species, born of the American West.It s Las Vegas circa 1935, and Skinner Sweet and our gal Pearl are about to learn the hard way that the bloodsuckers in Hollywood were nothing compared to what awaits them in Sin City.In just a few short years, young police Chief Cash McCogan has watched his native city of Las Vegas go from cow-town to wild, glittering boomtown. And when the bodies of prominent businessmen start showing up drained of blood, Chief McCogan finds himself facing a threat much darker and deadlier than anything he could have imagined . . . and the only sure bet in town is that Skinner and Pearl are right in the thick of it. We jump forward in time to the 1930s for the next instalment of American Vampire. It still remains pacy, satisfying, colourful and (a little too) gory! Each story feels like it's in a self contained bubble and I liked that. Good characterisation too. Recommend if you don't mind splatty!

Ok, it looks like American Rust may not be a Western in the usual sense... may have to supplement my reading challenge with some American Vampire! They are wearing cowboy hats on the cover so I'm assuming this'll count! 😅😅😅

I liked this, but there was a lot of switching between several storylines, and I wanted them to stay with one line longer. There was a lot of reorienting myself.

Loved it!!

Great story, amazing artwork, really just fantastic. I need more!

Book 5 in my #24in48 #readathon. Time for a break now though, to cook some dinner and maybe watch a horror movie, before starting my next book...

Puttered out for me. Not as compelling as the first volume. I kept getting confused at first at who was who and what was going on.

This series just gets better. I wish my library had all the volumes so I could catch up with the rest. Sweets is the quintessential evil vampire. Pearl is the vampire trying to be good. Awesome vampire battles.

TricksyTails One of my favorite series!! 🖤🖤🖤 7y

This volume of American Vampire is better even than volume one, which I gave a solid five stars. Vampires live for hundreds or even thousands of years and they get stronger, wealthier, and more powerful with time. There are different breeds of vampires and a new one is introduced in this Volume. Bloody and evil, not pretty boys like you see in the modern movies for teens, that‘s the kind of vampire Scott Snyder writes.
