Read this in 2004 (yes, I had to look it up, lol) and remember that it stuck with me. Must have been good. 🤷🏻♀️😂

Jan 6 #BeginsWith Forever I actually would like to read this, I'm going to have to put it on my list #ReadingPhotoChalenge @Eggs @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks
An Irishman immigrates to NYC in 1740 and is granted immortality if he never leaves the City, thereby having a front row seat to its history. At over 600 pages, this may sit in my tbr for awhile longer. #BeginsWith
I read this first when I was in college and it‘s always been one of my favorites. I listened to it on Audible this time. What a great story that transcends time. Book 26 in 2021
Feeling better after yukky flu and missed being on Litsy..... I'm putting this in #hibernation for now. I've been enjoyed what I've read but I'm still struggling to pick it up... Such a weird way to be with a book 😬😬
This is my second time stalling at the 100 page mark at the same time of year.... I will return to it in the summer and see if that makes a difference 👍👍
My #weeklyforecast is just this.... Must have had it on last three or four forecasts lol.
Going to finally see the new Star Wars film today with the kiddos though I have an absolutely banging headache with a head cold and just want to hide.... Fingers crossed the lemsip and ibuprofen sort me out so I can be Fun Mum 😱😱
A modest #weeklyforecast this week. Planning to finish Prisoner of Azkaban and get a good chunk of Forever read.... I started Forever last Christmas Eve but went into a huge reading slump and abandoned all my fiction reads for months.
May add an audio book if my back strain lets up enough to let me get on the cross trainer! 😁

Pete Hamill knows #NewYork. This is one of my favorite books of his. #letstravelaugust @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @OriginalCyn620
This is one of my top five favorite books; I‘ve actually had to replace the first edition due to excessive reading. It has everything. History, Magic, action, and just enough romance.
Whether you call it magical realism or historical fiction, Forever is an engaging #fairytaleofnewyork whose protagonist lives forever, as long as he doesn‘t leave Manhattan. #winterwonderland @TrishB @Cinfhen
5 stars. I LOVE this book and read it at least once a year. I can‘t tell you how many times I‘ve recommended it, too many to count!! I‘m not sure I‘d call it “swashbuckling” as many other online reviews do, but‘s it‘s an easy to follow epic tale. I love experiencing history through Cormac‘s eyes. I feel every emotion as he goes through each precarious situation.

This amazing book finds main character, Cormac, in 1700's Ireland wanting to avenge his father's murder. He ends up being granted immortality and a one way ticket to what will eventually be modern Manhattan. We get to see New York go through all of its history, from wilderness to metropolis. Including his stint as a Revolutionary soldier during the battle for independence.
I first read this book in 2007 and hammered through it in days. It follows the long life of an Irish immigrant to New York in the 1700‘s, through the slave trade, a couple wars...it is a fiction written about the history of Manhattan (and NYC) and how it went from a disgusting slum to the metropolis it is today. It also has some Irish folklore and African magic in it. “Forever” is easily in my top 5 favorite books of all time. #PeteHamill #Forever
