#itsalongwaytothetop for women working in NYC in the 1950's ... Or today 🙃 This book about women struggling to support themselves and building their dreams in the city on their own has been in my tbr stack for so long and for some reason I can't get myself to pick it up... Too real? 🤔

Hmmm..finished this one tonight and still puzzling out my thoughts. 🤔 Anyone read it?
"She fails to interpret his gesture when he tugs at his own shirt, so he has to make his expectations explicit by reaching forward and undoing the top buttons on her blouse."
2017 - the year I try prostitution? ? It's been a pretty unbelievably shitty year so I guess anything is possible.
Today's #libraryhaul. (Went a bit overboard.) The tagged book has a gushing blurb from Kate Atkinson, which is enough to convince me!
I just loved this book! It's a beautifully written story that spans decades and interweaves the stories of several strong women and the choices that they make, some history about the development of the Twin Towers, feminism, environmentalism...it so good!
Liberty picked this for Book Riot's Best Books of July list. I'd picked it up at the library last week, and now I'm super glad I did!
Evening reading: Millay is angry because I won't let her sit in front of my book. 🐾📖❤️#catsoflitsy
This book, y'all. It will take some time to come up with proper words, but suffice it to say: highly, highly recommend. A cleverly crafted, quietly powerful novel about New York, environmental justice, relationships, work, feminism, voice, and storytelling. Full review to come in Shelf Awareness for Readers. (On sale in July from @LittleBrownBooks.)
Devoured The Followers in two days. Continuing the trend of not reading review books the day before deadline, my next pick is another July release.
