Finished this novella and enjoyed it. I only wish I had read it closer to when I finished the series. It was a good prequel that provided some interesting background stories. 4🖤

I know I was supposed to read this between the books of the series, but I JUST discovered the novellas. It was nice to revisit the characters, and especially see scenes from their childhood. What the queens had to insure as children was haunting. But Jules. Jules. I still despise Jules. A Mary Sue ever since she was a child 😐 Mirabella‘s backstories were the best part. I always preferred Mirabella & Kat over Arsinoe.
I‘m definitely Team Mirabella!! Which Queen do you love?? I am becoming obsessed with this series!
Late night read. Alarm goes off at 5am but that isn‘t stopping me!
Couldn‘t think of a book with a broom, so I took a pic of my next witchy read with one. Excited to see these characters‘ backstory! 🧙🏼♀️ #broom #witchyreads
Kicked off this morning with a short novella. I love this series so much, it's super suspenseful and exciting and I can't 2ait to get my hands on the next one. #readathon
I wanted to know the history behind the series and this actually makes me like people in the book. It also makes me want a whole book about Caragh.
Satisfying novella that gave more insight into this series and answered a few questions. I have a feeling that I‘m not going to love the entire series but it is definitely the most fun I‘ve had read YA in a long time. I am so picky now with YA; this is a rare exception to my tendency to steer away from it.
When Haku was a baby he was a dark brown color but with each shed he's gotten more and more orange 😍
Still currently reading Emergency Contact but I think I'll finish The Young Queens first since I'm almost done with it ^^ #petsoflitsy
A fun novella about the queens before we meet them in the first book. No real new information but it is fun to be back in the world.
Second coffee of the #readathon. Iced felt like the way to go.
This is a good collection of stories with hinted at events, but I feel like it could have been better. It‘s not like Assassins Blade to Thrne of Glass where you gain SO much more—these definitely aren‘t can‘t miss, though I still enjoyed them. 3*
This short ‘Three Dark Crowns‘ novella was a fun read! ☺️ It gave lots of backstory on the characters and tied things together nicely. This book also answered some questions about Queen Katharine that were previously left up in the air. I felt it did a good job explaining how things came to be, prior to the first book. Can‘t wait for ‘The Oracle Queen‘ and ‘Two Dark Reigns‘!!😄📚❤️ #ThreeDarkCrowns #QueenKatharine #KendareBlake
I like novellas in a series that I‘m working through: enter the world for a while, learn some backstory, and have mysteries solved. This one does all three well. It‘s listed as book “0.5” in the Three Dark Crowns series, but I wouldn‘t recommend reading it until after One Dark Thrown because there are references to basically all of the series‘ twists/spoilers.
Great little read and I‘m anxiously awaiting the Oracle Queen novella and third book.
Another square down.
I love this series so much. I don‘t like a lot of YA or Fantasy, but I am obsessed this series. Team Arsinoe!!!

I love this series so much! I'm so invested in these characters that I can hardly stand it. 😅 Kendare Blake just keeps winning me over. This novella answered a lot of my questions and whetted my appetite for the next installment of the series.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
TFW when you receive a book that you‘ve been dying to read from an amazing Litten! 🎉🙀📚📖 Thanks Cher! 😘🤗

Finished this short prequel around the Three Dark Crown series. I loved how it cleared up a lingering question regarding Katharine‘s gifts in the opening pages! Overall the story was insightful tho it left me wanting much more!
I enjoyed this prequel novella to the Three Dark Crowns series. It answered a couple of questions but gave me some more. It also increased my dislike of Madrigal. I need more of her backstory though. Looking forward to the next one in April. What did you think @Coco ?
I read the whole thing in one sitting and absolutely loved reading about the queens before they were taken! It really brought out their personalities and how they developed and showed how the allegiances wound up as they did. It also gave some more info about one of the series‘ biggest twists and confirmed one of my theories as well! I‘m even more excited for book 3 now!!
This was also my chance to use my little Kobo mini again!
I‘m glad for this little filler book. It made me have some compassion for Mira, whom I hated all throughout Three Dark Crowns. I felt sorry for Katherine, who I can‘t bring myself to hate no matter what she does. And it only strengthens my love for Arsinoe ❤️
Also it helped me to surpass my reading challenge by one book 😊

Happy new year littens! My little family brought in 2018 at Disney world and I got to spend reading time while waiting in line woohoo! Here‘s to a new year of books and family time! Stay safe everyone!
My last read of 2017.
Happy New Year, all!
What! How did I not know this was out? I know what I'm doing tonight.
Did you see this @Coco ? Thought you might be interested 😊
GREAT prequel. The story fits seamlessly with the existing books, filling in the blanks in many spots where I craved more details and more background.
None of it is of vital importance to understand the plots of the existing duology, and these details would have very little significance to anyone not familiar with the books and might even bore them, so I wouldn‘t recommend anyone read it before.
But fans of the series should absolutely grab this!
This little glimpse into the childhood of the queens gave me this fix I needed until the next book comes. I feel like I know them better now and understand their personalities even more. Great little novella.
Squeeeee! The prequel is out!!!
Everyone went to bed, family and guests alike — perfect time to read this with no interruptions 🤫
