Guilty
Guilty: A gripping psychological thriller that will have you hooked | Laura Elliot
9 posts | 7 read | 6 to read
It begins with a phone call. It ends with a missing child. On a warm summers morning, thirteen-year-old school girl Constance Lawson is reported missing. A few days later, Constances uncle, Karl Lawson suddenly finds himself swept up in a media frenzy created by journalist Amanda Bowe implying that he is the prime suspect. Six years later Karls life is in ruins. His marriage is over, his family destroyed. But the woman who took everything away from him is thriving. With a successful career, husband and a gorgeous baby boy, Amandas world is complete. Until the day she receives a phone call and in a heartbeat, she is plunged into every mothers worst nightmare. An utterly compelling psychological thriller that will keep you guessing to the very last page. Perfect for fans of Louise Jensen, Claire Douglas and Sarah Denzils Silent Child. I think because it was wrote in 4 parts I found it hard work. It wasn‘t even four accounts of the same story it was like now, and then wrote in different decades/time throughout the story developing. I‘m sorry but I think this book wasn‘t for me. It had potential but I felt like something was missing.... 6/10

Oh god this done my head in! I purchased because of so many good reviews stating ‘read in one sitting because it was so good‘ ‘couldn‘t wait to get it finished‘ however - I just don‘t know. The book was written in parts; part1- yeah good start, the basis of a good story, beginning to get into it. Part 2-Jesus what am I reading I can‘t follow it?! Part 3- still have no idea someone help me. Part 4- oh yeah this parts good I‘m liking it.

Guilty starts with a missing girl. Karl who has an ordinary life falls under suspicion and the press in particular one journalists believes his guilt. You the follow the ins and out of Karl's life and those who have accused him. Fascinating story the author nicely leads you on the story. My only criticism is that I wanted to know more about some of the less obvious charters in the book and how those relationships continued. Worth a read

Guilty has without doubt a lot of potential and the plot itself is both complex and intriguing. The pace was a bit slow though and I had a hard time connecting to the main characters. I ended up having mixed thoughts, but I can definitely understand why the right person would love this psychological thriller.

3/5 stars
