@TheLudicReader
Okay I cried. A lot. And then! Trip saves the day with a fart. A really good story ...except maybe I could have done without the extended basketball scenes ...and maybe more Tabby/Matt history and interaction. But I couldn‘t put this book down.
I finished this while driving up to my bf‘s house and I‘m all ugly crying the entire hour.
😭😭😭

TheLudicReader 😭that makes me so happy. Which is kinda perverse, I know. 3y

Gah!!!!! I‘m at a part in this book, where I want to punch everyone including the Matt in the face. Fighting over who misses someone more is ridiculous. But when your loss isn‘t even acknowledged??? Well, you know how I feel. I‘ve got two hours left of this audiobook and if it leaves me hanging or doesn‘t have the resolution I want I AM GOING TO CRY.

TheLudicReader Haha. I love Matt. I hope you get the resolution you crave. I will be 😭 if you end up hating this book 3y

This story is sweet, heartbreaking, and funny. I really like that it touches on toxic masculinity but doesn‘t get preachy or pedantic. What I especially love about this book is that it‘s told entirely from Matt‘s perspective - a boy! Can‘t wait to share this one with my students and place it in my classroom library! Check it out! 4 ⭐️

This book started out as a typical unrequited love story that read like a middle school age read with high school characters. Then BAM, huge plot twist and the entire story changed. I didn‘t know anything about the book so the twist took me completely by surprise. The story improved greatly after that, maturing and becoming more about love and loss and the various stages of grief, hence the additional half star and rounding up.

This one surprised me! My first recommendation from a certain blogger. She was right; this is a heartwarming, honest, complicated, and relatable story about teenage-hood, relationships, and the realities of life. It‘s really beautiful.

The book mentions The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian, but honestly it‘s the best comparison. If you liked it, or like honest and clever looks at teenage years, you‘ll like this.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2

This was the book that I was really loving and I just finished it. It‘s about 15-year-old Matt, who is in love with Tabby, his childhood best friend. It gave me all the feels. It‘s funny and it‘s heartbreaking...and I cried. Can‘t wait to book talk it.

I thought this was a pretty good YA book. It gets in the minds of teens and the turmoil they experience while growing up and starting to develop new emotions and feelings. It also really shows how trauma can effect people all so differently and grieving is a process that is unique for all people.

A power punch novel full of insightful observations. The story of a boy growing up but also a stunning look at grief. Equal parts funny, insightful, and heartbreaking. Fantastic book to read with a teen, there really is so much to discuss! Thank you #bloggingforbooks #aaknopf for sending me a copy to read and review! Both funny and heartbreaking, this book proves to be more than just another in-love-with-the-best-friend teen romance, and I enjoyed following Matt through his story of friendship, family, basketball, unrequited love, and the many, many emotions involved. (I received a free copy of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.)

"I don't know what the point of all this is...there are times where there can't possibly be a point. Others, it's like the stars have lined themselves up just for you...I decided, however long I get, if I can spend time with the people I love, I don't really care what the point is."

This book sucked-punched me in the feels and is worthy of your time.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ A great YA read. It was full of heartbreak but also humor. There was a bit too much basketball in it, and I even love basketball. Overall though, I‘d recommend it

The cover of this book is totally wrong. It's a 4.5⭐️ book about basketball, freshmen, and the girl next door, as told by a guy. They also live in a cul de sac. It's phenomenal but I fear a HS boy would never select it based on its cover 😳🏀
( Coming 9/17! )
