I really enjoyed the 13th Trixie Belden book. The banter and teasing between the Bob-Whites was just like I remembered - and just the right amount of flirting between Jim and Trixie!! 😍

@BookmarkTavern was saying how it would be fun to know who ghost-wrote which books, so I did a little research yesterday, but it just looks like that list doesn't exist! The best information I could find is linked below, but it's a lot of hypotheticals. ⬇

While I was looking this up, I found a couple of other interesting articles about the originator of Trixie, Julie (Tatham) Campbell. Both talk a little bit about how Campbell literally wanted to create an anti-Nancy Drew 😂 who wasn't perfect and had pesky things like chores interfere with life.

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) created the Ginny Gordon books (which I've never read but do come across from time to time) and also wrote a few of the Cherry Ames books - another series I've always meant to read!

https://www.series-books.com/trixiebelden/trixiebelden.html - I liked this article because I personally 100% agree with the writer of it about Nancy vs. Trixie - I love both!! But for entirely different reasons. ⬇

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) So what did you all think about this month's story? I really enjoyed it but also found it kind of... I am not sure what the word is I'm looking for. Not unique? Like I wouldn't especially remember this one vs any of the others in the series, if that makes sense😆 But I really enjoyed the interactions within the gang (minus Dan, of course!), and thought it was fun to see the Bob Whites learn about sailing. I'd love to hear your thoughts! 1d
BookmarkTavern I did miss Dan, especially since he had played such an important part in the last one. And I loved the trick with the map! But also, this resolution was particularly satisfying. Because not only do we see al the BobWhites and their compassion for their adopted community, but as soon as Trixie learns the background of the “villain” she is instantly empathetic and hoping to not make things worse for him. And the other BobWhites following her lead! 1d

A summer vacation gets upended when the BobWhites find a mysterious letter hinting at a map & a lost fortune. It‘s up to the club to track down the money, only someone else is looking too.

A solid mystery, & a pretty good resolution too! I really wish I could find a list of the ghost writers. Who leaves out Dan, who tones down Mart‘s bullying. I also really appreciate how Trixie‘s empathy is forefront through this whole story! 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑

TheAromaofBooks I really liked this one!! The banter was fun and the mystery felt kinda sorta like something that could happen?? 😂 2d
BookmarkTavern @TheAromaofBooks it felt much more grounded! The Blinking Eye really felt like it was more of a Nancy Drew level of unrealistic intrigue, as much as I loved the Nancy Drew books. 😂 This one seemed more in keeping with Trixie‘s gal next door vibes. 2d
BookmarkTavern And the ending! I have so many thoughts about the ending for our discussion post. 2d
Cheryl_Russell Loved this series! My granddaughter is reading them now. 2d

Trixie is 14 years old, so I don't think "frustrated" exactly qualifies as a "big word." The website I had been using for info on the Trixie books has disappeared, but I have a feeling this isn't one of my favorite ghost writers. Anybody have a source for those? #bobwhitebuddies

#Naturalitsy #HyggeHourReadathon

Reading some Trixie for #BobWhiteBuddies for my #HyggeHour tonight, along with tea & some dried mini bananas for a sweet treat.

Mood is tired, I‘m still batting the lingering cough of my cold. Not looking forward to another busy week at work.

TheBookHippie I am sending all the healing vibes your way!!! 2w
