I read this novel a few years ago for a book tour review & enjoyed the story of two sisters renovating a diner in Detroit. I also enjoyed the Crispy Cornmeal & Quinoa Tabbouleh Salad with Herbs that I paired with my review. Nothing says welcome home like a good meal.😋

It's actually a local fish called monchong subbing in but it does look like catfish doesn't it?! 😆🐟 @ephemeralwaltz It works pretty well, not quite the same texture but close. It's a good alternative for gluten free & I like the protein it adds. 👍😀 7y

I am devoted to my favorite avocado toast with spicy garlic aioli that is in so many of my other Litsy posts 😆but I wanted to try the last of my Rick Bayless pickled red onions as an avo toast topping. Since they are pickled with lime juice, the tangy flavor works well with the creamy avocado & a bit of chopped cilantro & celery salt. 😋A great Sunday breakfast with a few chapters of this book I'm reviewing on the blog later in the week. 🥑🍞💚
