The graphic novel version of The Graveyard Book is done in 2 volumes so it doesn‘t have to cut content from the storyline. It has a number of contributing artists on the project, but the main illustrator is someone Gaiman has partnered with before on 3 of the Sandman volumes, so the style is familiar. While I definitely enjoyed this adaptation, for me it didn‘t quite rival the print version of one of my favorite Gaiman titles.

LibrarianRyan I have wanted to try the GN for mainly because I didn't enjoy the original book. I could not figure out why people love it. I read it when it first came out and was like huhhhh. Maybe time will have changed my mind.

Absolutely stunning artwork in this one! I just finished the first half, and am really enjoying it so far. Unfortunately my old lady eyes are straining with the small panel writing, so I‘m taking a little break before picking up with volume 2.

Phantasma.Maddie I am reading that for Spookathon! But the book not graphic novel. 6y

Just picked these up! Went with the graphic novel adaptation vs the novel edition. The only work I've read by Neil Gaiman before is Coraline which I loved (book and film). Stoked to read these 😁

I listened to The Graveyard book a few years ago with the kiddos. The Graphic Novel version is a lot of fun! Loved the illustrations to accompany the story. I‘m not a big GN reader and have been wondering why there is a different illustrator for each chapter? The illustrations were similar but different. I put volume 2 on hold.

This graphic novel is an excellent addition to the Neil Gaiman novel. It's a strong story that translates well to this story form!

Graphic novel told in 2 parts of a toddler who escapes a macabre scene because he has a habit of wandering. When he wanders into a graveyard with the killer on his heels, the ghosts protect him and give him shelter. He becomes Nobody or Bod Owens. This is part one.

hgrimes I just read this book a few months ago and loved it! So charming. I would like to check out the graphic novel edition sometime. 6y
toofondofbooks I love The Graveyard Book 😊 6y
youngreadrshelf @hgrimes @toofondofbooks I've read the book and then read the graphic novel because my students really love them, and this was a wonderful adaptation. 6y

I love this novel but haven't read it in awhile. The graphic novel felt like a worthy adaptation though I wish the two volumes were combined. The chapters read like short stories and feature the work of different artists which works well! Was the novel so segmented?? My copy is back in the States but hopefully I'll have a chance to read it with babe soon. #mommyreads #graphicnovel #adaptation #ebook #ghosts

Louise The two volumes are now available in one edition. Hardcover is already in stores. Paperback comes out in September in the US. 7y
alanacristin @Louise woohoo! Our library only had the first volume available on ebook, and I'd love to read the second! 7y
Louise 👍🍀😍!!! 7y
TobeyTheScavengerMonk Yeah. The novel is very episodic. Each chapter operates as its own short story like The Jungle Book that inspired it. 7y
alanacristin @TobeyTheScavengerMonk thanks! I clearly need to read it again as it's been several years. I thought the graphic novel would refresh my memory but I think my main takeaway was the atmosphere of the setting rather than any plot specifics 😂 7y
