Velma Barfield was sent to death row after the murder of her boyfriend in 1978. Courtroom testimony actually re-enacted the deathly #howl that Velma‘s boyfriend let loose as he died of arsenic poisoning. The book was fantastic, laying out Velma‘s childhood, followed by a young marriage that turned to a long addiction to sedatives. It gives the other side of the death penalty and whether or not redemption should be considered.
