This book was highly recommended and it‘s one of those books that you don‘t want to know anything about it before reading. Following the lives of the Lathams-I found myself related strongly with the main character who is the mother of teenage children. We hear her thoughts that no one else knows. I‘m considering re-reading it to see how events were foreshadowed.

BINGO! Things have been hectic here with back-to -school, so I‘ve been reading but not keeping up with reviews. Got my first #bookspinbingo for August by finishing up the tagged book. The audiobook has an excellent narrator. Quindlen really captures motherhood. I didn‘t expect this story to take such a tragic turn, but it was well-written and well-done. Will be on my mind for a long time.

I finished Alternate Side and started this one tonight.

Quindlen succeeds for me on so many levels: depth, characters, writing style, narration, tone. Protagonist Mary Beth Latham is an ordinary woman, wife, mom, and friend who survives extraordinary events, and becomes unforgettable.

I'm halfway through this; so awesome but I have to get some sleep 😴 I would read anything by Anna Quindlen

If you have ever been "that" mom, the one who takes in all the stray kids, who feeds all of the friends, you must read this book. If you love books that break your heart, you must read this book. It devastated me! And the ebook is on sale right now!

This was so different from the last one of hers I'd read — Still Life With Breadcrumbs, but I really liked it. She drew me in with such a real and relatable character. At times I felt like she'd been mining my thoughts we were so similar and that connection made the plot all the more compelling. She handles both the ordinary and the extraordinary with subtlety and compassion. #BirthdayChallenge #2010

I finished this book tonight. I know it looks dull, but that just proves that looks can be deceiving. I picked this up at a library sale without its cover, and it has been languishing on my TBR for a while. It actually worked out perfectly that I was unable to read a blurb before I started, because I didn't know what to expect. The story gets very emotional. It is done very well; Quindlen writes very honestly. I recommend this book.

I love Anna Quindlen, and this is my favorite of her novels. The story: Mary Beth Latham is navigating a typically hectic life as a mom of three teenagers when her family is blindsided by a shocking act of violence. We then see through Mary Beth's eyes as she continues on in a now altered world. #RecommendsDay
