The End of the Fucking World
The End of the Fucking World | Charles Forsman
11 posts | 13 read | 22 to read
Fantagraphics is proud to publish this edition of TeotFW in conjunction with the 2017 television drama on UKs Channel 4 (with distribution via Netflix in the U.S.). Originally released to critical and public acclaim in 2013, Charles Forsmans graphic novel debut follows James and Alyssa, two teenagers living a seemingly typical teen experience as they face the fear of coming adulthood. Forsman tells their story through each characters perspective, jumping between points of view with each chapter. But quickly, this somewhat familiar teenage experience takes a more nihilistic turn as Jamess character exhibits a rapidly forming sociopathy that threatens both of their futures. He harbors violent fantasies and begins to act on them, while Alyssa remains as willfully ignorant for as long as she can, blinded by young love.

My review of this book can be found on my Youtube Vlog at:

Enjoy!

Catherine_Willoughby I gave it a so-so , try not label books with "Pan" - I personally had expected so much more due to the TV series - I recommend the TV series along with "I am not okay with this" (S1) and (unrelated to same author) "Sex Education" (S1/S2) on Netflix - all 3 shows have a vibe that they are not set in any particular time (fashion/cars/house decor). 4y

I don‘t read a ton of graphic novels, but I do enjoy them. In fact, Watchmen is in my top ten books of all time. I mostly read graphic novels by checking them out on #Libby or #Hoopla, though I have a few print copies (including Saga Vol. 1) that are on my physical #TBR shelf. The above spread shows all of my current TBR on Hoopla. I loved the Netflix adaptation of the tagged book.

I was really excited to read this graphic novel but was thoroughly disappointed. I found the illustrations lame and the story too rushed. Finished reading it in 15 minutes and I could not connect to any character. Hopefully the show is better!

So, has anyone read this graphic novel yet? I‘ve been binge watching the Netflix series all day (so weird but so good!) and would like to know what people think of the source material. :)

Samary Holy cow! I had no idea it was a graphic novel! I loved the show! 7y

Since all I've done the last two months is watch this Netflix series on a continuous loop, I thought it was about time I delve into the source material. And as a bonus, I think it'll pair nicely with a glass of Johnny Smoking Gun. #booksandbooze #teotfw #currentlyreading

My daughter just recommended a Netflix series based on this graphic novel. She's captivated by it. So, of course, I come to Litsy to see what fellow Littens think about it and find that no one has posted about it yet. So I'm adding it to my #TBR for 2018 and making it a priority. I'll let you know what I think.

Andrea4 Well I'm in the midst of the show and it is humourous and interesting so far :) 7y
Nikki15 Might give the show a go now! 7y
merelybookish My husband and I are currently watching this show. He likes it. I'm less enchanted. 7y
