Frankenstein Takes the Cake
Frankenstein Takes the Cake | Adam Rex
10 posts | 10 read | 5 to read
No one ever said it was easy being a monster. Take Frankenstein, for instance: He just wants to marry his undead bride in peace, but his best man, Dracula, is freaking out about the garlic bread. Then theres the Headless Horseman, who wishes everyone would stop drooling over his delicious pumpkin head. And can someone please tell Edgar Allan Poe to get the door already before the raven completely loses it? Sheesh. In a wickedly funny follow-up to the bestselling Frankenstein Makes a Sandwich, Adam Rex once again proves that monsters are just like you and me. (Well, sort of.)

A lot of different things crammed together in this book - articles, poems, comic strips. Not too bad, just not cohesive. #scarathlon #teamBOOks @Bookwormjillk

LaraS I love the cover though…too bad the book isn‘t quite as amazing 14mo

I love the tradition of books for read-to-age children written for kids but filled with things for the adults to enjoy just as much. This was a little out there, so I feel like I want to actually read it to a sampling of kids before I feel confident if they‘d vibe with it. But the cadence of the poetry is outstanding! And that‘s usually all it takes to make-read aloud books a hit.

Great art and fun poetry, plus a multimedia feel to the 'headless horseman blog' entries. Loved it as much as the first Frankenstein collection from Adam Rex. Bonus for Poe poems with heckling raven. 😂

I had to try the follow-up after I read his other Frankenstein book, and it didn‘t disappoint! Adam Rex is hilarious. If you like your Halloweens funny, this is a must!! 🔩

Linsy @Clwojick Not sure if this can count, I just posted it an hour ago, but it‘s a Dracula comic! 🧛🏻‍♂️ #HalloweenLaughs (edited) 5y

This book is so funny, I hope y'all can read the print! There isn't enough Halloween theme to count, it had some but less than I recall so I don't feel I can claim it is as such. But it is worth 2 #scarathlon points for #teamslaughter at least! @Clwojick

#7days7covers #covercrush day 4
@vivastory @Kayla.Adriena etc

Even though I feel like everyone has probably been tagged, I haven't seen @ImperfectCJ do any, so jump in if you wanna! 7 days of favorite covers with no explanation needed.

sudi This one is great 😆 5y
madamereadsalot1 @sudi the whole things has great art! It's a super cute book with mixed formats. Parts are like a comic, others like a blog post, others like an article. It's so fun! 5y
vivastory Sounds like a fun time! 5y
ImperfectCJ Thanks for the tag! I'll see what I can come up with. :-) 5y

Day 3 #boardbookbonanza is very difficult. There are so many books that I love as much, if not more than my kids. This is one I adore and my kids like too, but I definitely enjoy it more. It's written in bits and pieces, like news clippings, comic strips, blog posts, poems, etc, and not as a cohesive story. Though there is a bit of a storyline. It's a lot of fun and I'm all for monsters and the such!
