25 posts | 24 read | 49 to read
Set in the near future, this action-packed YA novel--already optioned by Sony Pictures--will take readers out of this world and on a quest to become one of six teens sent on a mission to Jupiter's moon. This is the next must-read for fans of Illuminae and The Martian. When Leo and Naomi are drafted, along with twenty-two of the world's brightest teenagers, into the International Space Training Camp, their lives are forever changed. Overnight, they become global celebrities in contention for one of the six slots to travel to Europa--Jupiter's moon--and establish a new colony, leaving their planet forever. With Earth irreparably damaged, the future of the human race rests on their shoulders. For Leo, an Italian championship swimmer, this kind of purpose is a reason to go on after losing his family. But Naomi, an Iranian-American science genius, is suspicious of the ISTC and the fact that a similar mission failed under mysterious circumstances, killing the astronauts onboard. She fears something equally sinister awaiting the Final Six beneath Europa's surface. In this cutthroat atmosphere, surrounded by strangers from around the world, Naomi finds an unexpected friend in Leo. As the training tests their limits, Naomi and Leo's relationship deepens with each life-altering experience they encounter. But it's only when the finalists become fewer and their destinies grow nearer that the two can fathom the full weight of everything at stake: the world, the stars, and their lives.

This was so much better than I remember it being the first time!! I loved the action, world-building, and characters!! This is such a fun, easy dystopian/sci-fi read and I love it! I kind if gives off Illuminae vibes (which I LOVED) so anything that reminds me of that is great in my world!!

This YA Sci-Fi story is told from two POVs, Leonardo from Italy and Naomi from the U.S. Due to global warming, the Earth is becoming uninhabitable. They are among 24 teenagers drafted into the space program. Only 6 will move forward to become the ones to man the first mission to Europa to establish a human colony. Some of the things that happen are not realistic especially the ending which wad rushed. The book could have easily been ⬇️

TheSpineView Another 50 to 100 pages. Despite this, I enjoyed story. It was original and I also loved the characters. I could have done without the cliff hanger. ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4y
TheSpineView I forgot to mention this is my #DoubleSpin book for June. @TheAromaofBooks 4y

I just finished book 1 and 2. I really enjoyed them. The way 2 ended I think there will be more. Can‘t wait!!! What would we do if the Earth became uninhabitable?

It took me a while to get into this YA, dystopian, science-fiction tale. The premise was absurd (sending 6 teens to Jupiter‘s moon Europa to start a new settlement with the hope of preserving the human race) but the last 30% was somewhat redeeming. There is quite a cliff-hanger at the end and the next book isn‘t due to release until end of February. I suspect by then my interest to see what happens will have dissipated.

annahenke Sounds like a ripped off concept from Kass Morgan‘s 4y
Loric @annahenke kind of a reversal. The 100 starts in space and they are sent to Earth where The Final Six starts on a ravaged Earth and sends them into space to see if they can start a settlement. As I look back at my Goodreads, I notice that I rated both a 3* 🤷🏼‍♀️ 4y
annahenke Yeah, makes sense. The book didn‘t wow me on that one, but I got sucked into the cw series 4y

I really enjoyed The Final Six! I had been wanting to read some more space themed books so when I came across this one I jumped in. The 1st book the teens are competing to see who will be chosen for the "Final Six". A group that will be going to Europa to set up a new colony for the humans. I usually am not a huge fan of books that switch between different POVs. However it worked for me in this book. I can't wait until the 2nd book is released.

TheSpineView I have this on my TBR list. I need to read this... like now! 😊 4y

Ohhhh okay I like this and I was able to GET into it very quickly! I'm a total sucker for the "competing for sci-fi exploration." I'm here for it cause that always involves a corrupt institution, some sketchy science/disease and of course some AI and hacking. The romance in this? I liked. Cheesy. Adorable and believable. I thoroughly enjoyed Naomi and Leo but the best part? The world is fighting against climate change! SOUND FAMILIAR?!

Lchnessmnstr I mean, I wish ‘a world fighting against climate change‘ sounded familiar... 5y

I forgot about audiobooks when I did my stack post for #boutofbooks! I was 2/3 of the way done with my September book club book at the start of the week and I finished the final third over Monday and Tuesday — I‘m 3 weeks early too, which pretty much never happens for me 🙌📚

My second pool book yesterday. I picked this one up as an arc a while ago and started it without really knowing what it was about. But it was very readable. The future version of the world it build seemed real and possible.

I was skeptical but I have to say, this is a delightful snack. Salty-sweet but not too sweet. Also, this #audiobook is pretty compelling so far. My only complaint is that one narrator talks more slowly than the other, so I have to switch the playback speed whenever the POV changes 😋

I love books when they are this length! And i love the protagonist! No spoilers, but I adored this book and am happy to hear that it‘s already been optioned into a movie by Sony. That said, I went in thinking this was a stand-alone, but now I‘m guessing is a series? Or, is it purposely left to make you think? Read it and let‘s discuss it!!!

This book overall was pretty good. I liked Naomi and Leo. I thought the relationship was cute but it was a little insta-lovey. It left on a big cliffhanger though so I'm already ready for the next book!!
