I have been working So. Much. Overtime. this month and it‘s really decimated my reading time 😩

It‘s late in the month but I am so happy to finally be starting my last #LMPBC book for this round!! (While I sit at the Costco tire center waiting to get my snow tires on. Never go anywhere without a book!)

I loved this book. I wish some aspects would have been developed more, the faith aspect, reasons for house rules and the relationship between Tiffany and her "new" sisters. Thanks for sharing.
I will send it off early next week.

ambam1987 I totally agree- wish the faith and belief systems would have been explained more. 5y

ambam1987 No worries- I might struggle to get this month‘s done in time! Back to School time is extremely challenging and September flies right by! Just a heads up the audio is on Hoopla for Tiffany Sly! 5y
cwarnier Thanks for the Hoopla info. I love listening to the audio books. 5y

Not enough space to say all the ways this book pissed me off. Only plus is the anxiety rep, Tiffany‘s struggle was real & familiar to me, & good to see this w/a Black female character. BUT OTHERWISE THIS IS A DAMN MESS. Cringey writing, threads left unfinished, abuse all over the place & constantly excused + the BS idea that abusers can change overnight & u must forgive or yr no better. Flat characters other than Tiffany. A. DAMN. MESS. 😠1/5 ⭐️

Oh you know, just normal everyday decisions, starting a nonprofit organization to pay for strangers‘ extremely expensive medical care. Just a simple little thing, no big whoop. 😒 I mean, I get it, they‘re rich, but still, who goes from “how about a crowdfunding page” to “let‘s start a very complicated business with the vaguest of plans!!!!” like that? People in a crap book, I guess.

ravenlee I bet people actually get this crazy idea a lot - only to find out there‘s a shit-ton of work involved and give up. 5y
alisonrose @ravenlee exactly! Especially with a nonprofit because there are so many extra laws and regulations to follow. 5y

I knew this was coming from some of the bad reviews I read, but even still, WHAT IN THE SWEET FUCK IS THIS GARBAGE. Excusing a parent smacking their child as “emotions getting the best of him‘? And Tiffany immediately agreeing and thinking she‘s just as bad for hitting a peer who insulted her friend and called her a bitch? This is some sick shit, and if this is the author‘s mindset, then she‘s just as fucked up as her characters.

alisonrose And on the next page, the “dad” takes Tiffany‘s anxiety medication away because he—a supposed doctor—doesn‘t believe in them. WTFFFFFFFFF 5y
julesG 😫😫😫 This sounds wrong! So wrong! 5y

So I‘m definitely having a lot of issues with this book, one minor one being this ridiculous sentence fragment structure she does constantly. Why is this two sentences?! It just ends up looking like bad writing and sloppy editing. (Also, why the fuck does Litsy turn every pic you take with the app sideways, no matter how far away the camera is? The focus tool won‘t work if you rotate the pic, and every single one I took got flipped. Irritating.)

I‘ve seen a lot of very positive reviews of this, but also a few that panned it for what sounds like some really questionable takes on abuse and forgiveness of such. I‘m going into it with some hesitation but I‘ll make my own judgments once I‘ve actually read it 😬

My first book review is up on the blog! Here‘s a snippet.
Fundamentally, this is a novel about a girl trying to figure out who she is and who she wants to be when her whole life has just been thrown upside down. Tiffany was a great character to read. She is lively and likeable, someone you would want to be your friend. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #netgalley

🤩🎧📚📚🤓📖 #YA #MentalHealth #LibrarianLife #WorkPerks #Diversity #BookishThings #BookishNews

This session on mental health in #YA was the panel I was most interested in & it did not disappoint.

5 different YA authors discussed the inspiration- most of it real life or #OwnVoices, behind their books & what they'd like to see more of in #YA in terms of mental health.

Very insightful & illuminating. 💗

You know when you pick up a book just on a whim and you give it a chance and it turns out to be something pretty amazing? Yeah, that‘s what this little gem of all the feels was for me. I 💗 Tiffany Sly!
