The NOT so good news- I really wanted to like this but both the story & narrator just didn't do anything for me. Extremely flat narration, & yes I get that that's kind of Leah's 'vibe', but there was no affect in the narrator's voice at ALL.😑
Or maybe #YA contemporaries aren't my thing?🤔

Next up for review at work, my co-worker chose the newish #Historical novel 'Dear Mrs. Bird' while I opted for a buzz book fr last fall, 'The Immortalists.' We both wanted to pick books with "fall-like" vibes.?

I'm already a quarter of the way into mine & totally sucked in.
I love a multi-layered family novel & this one is fitting the bill quite nicely so far.?

This session on mental health in #YA was the panel I was most interested in & it did not disappoint.

5 different YA authors discussed the inspiration- most of it real life or #OwnVoices, behind their books & what they'd like to see more of in #YA in terms of mental health.

Much like the diversity of produce that I saw at last week's farmer's market held in front of my work building, I thoroughly enjoyed the rich cultural diversity & expression in this well narrated audiobook. I only wish that Older had given us more exploration into the mysterious history & past of both Sierra's mom & her grandfather. I would've loved more!
