We get to meet the Princess that the Prince was to marry and learn how she felt and how she was involved in the story (at least this author‘s idea of the story). Cross between Disney and Hans Christian Andersen. So goood! I‘m a big fan of Disney so I always love reading retellings. Also a very quick read, which is nice when you have a large TBR pile 💎⚓️🎼🍤🦀🐠🐙🧜🏻‍♀️🧜🏻‍♀️🧜🏻‍♀️🤩

I'm all about the fairytale retelling but this was a miss. The first half was fairly good but then it took a left turn and it just went downhill for me.

A retelling of the mermaid (aka the little mermaid) I found this dull and nowhere near a perfect twist in the classics tail.

It bothers me when the cover art doesn't match the character descriptions- several mermaids and none of them with red hair. But I am liking this spin so far so there that.

This is a small stack of unread ARCs I've managed to hang on to and not pass off to someone else! I'm hoping to get around to them soon. Also, I love the #mugsoflitsy hash tag!

Been wanting to reread this one for a while. Absolutely loved it. I, like so many others, have such mermaid love. This is such a fantastic fairy tale and can't recommend it enough!

#booksetbythesea #septemberphotochallenge My book by the sea (and somewhat in the sea) is actually one of my first retellings. This was a nice little twist on a dark tale. I've read better since bit I really enjoyed it the first time around.

I usually like retellings, but this was a train wreck, wrapped in a disaster. Everything was so one dimensional and forced. The characters were about as interesting as watching paint dry, and the love triangle was more like watching a socially awkward kid ask for his first dance. 1.5/5.
