pickI‘m not sold on the World War II part, but somehow this book still managed to be enthralling—despite how long that particular fiction went on for.
I‘m also not thrilled about the idea of reading more of his essays on slugs and…I don‘t know…random birds of prey.
But when Knausgaard gets a continuous narrative going, he‘s a killer.
And I‘m not going to act like that conclusion, the closing imagery, ISN‘T stunning and beautiful.
Summer the fourth of the Seasons quartet and is the only one I've left to read. Maybe this summer😃

pickShort random chapters describing the minutia of the mundane, ordinary objects and emotions of life. There are two longer 'Diary' chapters in between with a separate short fictional tale told within the diary. This book, the last in the series, gets a bit metaphysical at times. My favorite chapter was Ice cream.

Having a mimosa at the train station in Rome before we head to Florence. Had some fresh bufalo mozzarella and prosciutto- even train station food is good in Italy. Not getting much reading done though, jet lag is killing me!
pickI really love this final volume of the seasons quartet. Knausgaard started them to describe things in detail to his unborn daughter.His detailed descriptions of everyday things ,cats , bats & summer rain are enchanting.The best was his essay Sting , we can all relate .He randomly grabbed a CD from the glove box ,Stings first solo effort. He is transported back to age 16 , thoughts , feelings of that time ,almost overwhelm him.Magical .
pickA collection of essays that reflect on various experiences and memories of summer from the books he reads to trees, bicycles, and food along with a journal addressed to the author's youngest daughter. Despite the languorous tone, the attention to minutiae, and a fair amount of navel-gazing, the writing is still captivating and compelling.

Here in the states , it‘s National Coffee Day!Check your locals; some are giving it away,giving discounts etc.Reading Summer in the fall,but here in the desert southwest,it‘s gonna be 103.Hurricane Rosa is headed our way from Baja California, hope it does decrease in strength for everyone‘s safety but looking forward to the cool down it brings.

Severance, a tale of plague/apocalypse in New York, has been on my mind since last week‘s release so I decided to treat myself to it. I‘ve been counting down until this week‘s pub day for the last of Knausgaard‘s quartet, and I‘m DELIGHTED to see that it‘s a chunkster (very fitting).
The quartet is complete with today‘s addition of Summer! I loved the first three and can‘t wait to see what the fourth has in store. #iheartkarloveknausgaard
