Limetown: The Prequel to the #1 Podcast | Cote Smith
13 posts | 11 read | 12 to read
From the creators of the #1 podcast Limetown, an explosive prequel about a teenager who learns of a mysterious research facility where over three hundred people have disappearedincluding her unclewith clues that become the key to discovering the secrets of this strange town. On a seemingly ordinary day, seventeen-year-old Lia Haddock hears news that will change her life forever: three hundred men, women, and children living at a research facility in Limetown, Tennessee, have disappeared without a trace. Among the missing is Emile Haddock, Lias uncle. What happened to the people of Limetown? Its all anyone can talk about. Except Lias parents, who refuse to discuss what might have happened there. They refuse, even, to discuss anything to do with Emile. As a student journalist, Lia begins an investigation that will take her far from her home, discovering clues about Emiles past that lead to a shocking secretone with unimaginable implications not only for the people of Limetown, but for Lia and her family. The only problem isshes not the only one looking for answers. Zack Akers and Skip Bronkie are first-rate storytellers, in every medium. Critics called their podcast Limetown creepy and otherworldly (The New York Times) and endlessly fun (Vox), and their novel goes back to where it all began. Working with Cote Smith, a PEN/Robert W. Bingham Prize Finalist, theyve crafted an exhilarating mystery that asks big questions about what we owe to our families and what we owe to ourselves, about loss, discovery, and growth. Threaded throughout is Emiles storytold in these pages for the first time ever.

“You wanted this, the voice said. Remember? You knew this would happen when Jacob left. You knew because you saw it. On Max‘s face. You might have looked the other way, but you knew. They will never let you go.”

BarbaraBB Have you listened to the Podcast yet? 5y
LinesUponAPage @BarbaraBB i started to listen then i thought I‘d wait until i was finished reading the book. Partially under the suggestion of the author. I think the book is part prequel and part podcast. Have you? 5y
BarbaraBB I did listen but it went way over my head at times - as did the book 🤷🏻‍♀️ (edited) 5y

This might be a DNF for me. I'm 30% in and while I find the plot interesting, I'm not all that invested. I haven't listened to the podcast, but this is a prequel. I'll give it a bit more time. #TeamSlaughter #scarathalon @Clwojick

BarbaraBB I bailed on the podcast too... 5y

Finished up this audiobook today for #screamathon @4thhouseontheleft

I've never listened to the podcast, but I'm definitely going to check it out now.

The story happens before the events of the podcast and it is told from two different perspectives. The government is covering up something and one girl is on a journey to uncover the truth so she can piece together her family's history.

Enjoyable and a little creepy, but not quite a pick for me.

BarbaraBB I bailed on the podcast and was hesitant to read the book, but I guess I don‘t now! 5y

Really disappointed with this. I am a big fan of the Limetown podcast, so when I heard there was a prequel available I knew I had to read it. I felt like we did get some new information, but most of it was stuff we already knew about the characters and the story in the podcast. Just read at your own rate and see for yourself (but listen to the podcast first!).

#schoolsout, let's go! We started listening to the tagged book on a recent three day #vacation road trip and it's pretty good so far but didn't hold our attention. Has anyone else read it that would recommend trying again? I'm amazed, usually I get through a couple audiobooks on every vacation but we totally rocked out to music instead (double down on the pic challenge tho, I guess)! #songsofsummer #hufflepup #corgitsy

It's rare that I can go into a book with absolutely zero preconceptions or expectations. I found this one recently, I'd never heard of it or the podcast it prequels, but it sounded interested and fulfilled a #Booked2019 prompt so I decided to give it a go. It ended up being a gripping, page turning read and I can't wait to listen to the podcast because holy cliffhanger, Batman!

Cinfhen This is fiction, right??? It still sounds fascinating 🙌🏻 6y
TheKidUpstairs @Cinfhen it is fiction. I think the podcast is set up to sound like a non- fiction, NPR-type investigative podcast, but it is entirely fictional. 6y

Anyone read this? I enjoyed the podcast a lot.

TheKidUpstairs I just finished it, and really enjoyed. I haven't listened to the podcast yet, so I'd be interested to hear if it's as good to someone who listened first! 6y
CorinnaBechko @TheKidUpstairs cool! Thanks so much, I think I'm gonna get it! 6y

I listened to the first season of the podcast when it came out years ago. I am super interested in picking this up sometime! Also seeing this made me think... Hum maybe season 2 was made? It was, I'm sold. #libraries #podcast #suspense

This book was so good! It's the prequel to the podcast, which happens 10 years after all the citizens of Limetown vanish. The prequel tells the story of Lia and her family's connection to the town. Also pictured is my cute fake planter I bought yesterday 😄

MrBook Nice review! 6y
