Returning to & reliving this #tiny book is such a joy!

BarbaraJean I loved this one when I was a kid!! 5y
bookishkai Loved this song on the Really Rosie soundtrack! My best friend, her brother, and I used to sing this in the car, and her brother played Pierre. 5y

#ANewChapter #tiny #MauriceSendak
I adored these tiny books in the Nutshell Library when I was young; read them over & over to myself & my younger sibs. This is the only one I have that sustained years of reading & 5 kids. I always mean to buy a ate but somehow it does not hold as much meaning as thesis well worn, well lived remaining book. Estimate they are about 2 by 3 inches. Not home so can‘t measure!

Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks It‘s so cute!! 5y

Pocket-sized Sendak classics. My son loves “One was Johnny.” My sisters & I loved “Pierre” as kindergartners, but it was out of stock at local bookshops individually. Caveat: “Alligators All Around” includes “I-imitating Indians,” with alligators wearing feather headdresses, the original line that appears as “Imitating Icicles” in later versions/videos.(I change the words when I read it). Otherwise, an awesome set. #kidsbooks#kindergarten

Pierre is part of the Nutshell Library, which is very tiny, but it happens to be one of my daughter's favorites! What excellent life lessons! #idontcare

I visit #mylocalibrary almost every week. Sometimes with my kids and sometimes during my 10-15 minute no-kid window between dropping off the Kindergartener and picking up the preschooler. Luckily the preschool is right across the street from the library. The library borders the park so it's got a lovely view! It's a rainy day today though so this old photo will have to do. #riotgrams

"Nutshell" by Ian McEwan may be mediocre, but at least it's short. You know what's not mediocre, but even shorter? The Nutshell Library by Maurice Sendak.

And if you read those stories, my friend, you will find at the end that a suitable moral lies there.

BethFishReads I love these little books 7y
ErickaS_Flyleafunfurled Maybe I'll go for the Sendak instead! 7y

Cortg @Sandra I just read your "quote" to my 13 YO who smiled and thought of her 3 yr old preschool teacher who gave each student a copy of the book (we still have) after going through the poems each month...such wonderful memories ❤️ Sendak is a classic! 7y

I have worked in Libraries sine I was 19 years old, that's a few shy of 40 years. My first job was typing card catalog cards and now I'm the Dean of a University library. I've always loved the library and when I was in 2nd grade I made a library in my parents dining room that consisted of Scholastic books. I may or may not have taken great joy in charging my sister an overdue fine. #somethingforseptember #TheSpineCrackersBookclub

Found this between the sofa cushions. One of the kids must have been reading. Always a classic, especially for contrary children.
