Fatal attraction, primal fear, survival in the forest: From the author of the Printz Honor Book STOLEN, the highly anticipated thriller about deadly games played in the dark. Ashlee Parker is dead, and Emily Shepherd's dad is accused of the crime. A former soldier suffering from PTSD, he emerges from the woods carrying the girl's broken body. "Gone," he says, then retreats into silence. What really happened that wild night? Emily knows in her bones that her father is innocent -- isn't he? Before he's convicted, she's got to find out the truth. Does Damon Hilary, Ashlee's charismatic boyfriend, have the answers? Or is he only playing games with her -- the kinds of games that can kill?

Something was draped across Dad‘s outstretched arms. A deer? A fawn that was injured? It was sprawled and long legged, something that had been caught in a poacher‘s trap maybe.

The Killing Woods was my second book by Lucy Christopher and while I enjoyed it, this one is definitely aimed towards the teen audience.

Even still, Lucy has created a mystery that keeps you flipping back and forth on the suspects for most of the book. You'll love and hate most of the characters at different times but you won't be surprised at the ending.

I love this book so much. It had the hairs on the back of my neck standing up. It had my heart racing at every twist and turn. I couldn't believe how the story ended.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #TheKillingWoods #LucyChristopher #book #books #bookworm #bookworms #booked #epicreads #bookreport #read #bookreview #bookrecommendation #bookish #bookishfeatures #booksoflitsy #bookporn #bookphoto #bookphotograph #bookphotography #bookart #bookaddict #bookaddiction #nerdy

This was a pretty decent story, though it is a very slow burn type of story. And while I was intrigued and wanted to know what happened, it felt too long and drawn out.

I also didn't like that you never get a solid picture of what the heck "the game" is, but more importantly why they're doing it. I guess you could boil it down to bored teens... but the answers (about the game) revealed at the end were unsatisfying.

It's almost October, so I'm jumping back on the horror train! I'd LOVE some fantastic, creepy, gore-y, terrifying horror recs if anyone has any!

SeeJulieRead I just finished HEX - creepy! And, Bird Box was really good. I'll keep my eye on this one for other suggestions! 8y
AlexandraGriffin @SeeJulieRead awesome thank you! I'm on the holds list for both of those books from the library! 8y

This takes an old, old formula (someone gets murdered somewhere creepy and the protagonist doesn't believe the Police caught the right person) and does nothing new with it.

Compared to, stolen, this book was amazing I was hooked until the very end. You never knew who you could trust you didn't know what was going on until the very end. I felt in the main character shoes. I completely recommend this book to anybody who is remotely interested.
