pickAn excellent historical fiction book about Scott's Antarctic expedition. Each chapter is the voice of one of the five men who made it to the Pole and how they viewed the voyage. You really get to know each of these men. Even though you most likely know how it ends it is still a great read. It is a perfect length for the story being told and makes you appreciate how much harder this expedition would have been at the time.

I had to double check that the date of captain scott's death (29th march 1912) fell in antartic winter (march to nov) - this is a brilliant book which novelises the final days of the scott expedition.
The piles on which its sits (58 bks) is because i have had to move them from my hiding place next to my armchair to make way for a Christmas tree - my wife said if it was beer cans id have to accept i had a problem 😂

This book was a really well written novelisation of Scott's fateful trip to the farflung South Pole. I remember it personalised the drama of the story although did not encourage me try penguin should it ever become a restaurant favourite.
