It‘s not easy to avoid the pain and sorrow of cancer, but there is joy and hope to be found, even as the experience creates a new normal in the process.

Beautiful. Advice on how to live during traumatic times in your life. I want to buy several copies and give to everyone of my loved ones.

I especially like this quote which, not surprisingly, endorses writing as survival. The book is a handy little reminder to live fully.
@JoScho #manicmonday 1)Book of saltwater animals you can eat that won‘t kill you lol 2) how to build a shack and other things out of small trees with huge leaves 3) YOU 4) complete set of encyclopedias 5) how to make a fire without flint , rocks, a lighter , matches or a mirror .. of course 4 those don‘t exist but if they did lol
Because I literally cannot finish a book this month, I went for this short and uplifting gift from Alice Hoffman. This is the book you give to a friend going through a rough time or the book you read when you have suffered a loss or upsetting news or the book you read when you need some perspective. I definitely needed some perspective to get me back on track and this is the gentlest reminder that life is good and we need to love each other.
I have been finding perfect books lately. I sat and read this wonderful, little book in one sitting. It is truly a treasure trove of insight, wisdom, inspiration and life tips. Of course one of my favorites: “Read the greats-they‘re great for a reason. They know how to chart the human soul.”
I am all about survival and reading short books this week. (Wouldn‘t you know you would show up first on the “Book Profile” @peacegypsy 😘)
So many words to live by in this beautiful little book.

Couldn't keep my eyes open after 3am and nodded off in the middle my audiobook. But what fun to hang out with everyone! I managed almost 11 hours of reading and finished 3.5 books.

#WCW I just love everything Alice Hoffman writes. I especially appreciated this short nonfiction piece about finding joy in difficult times.
"My mother possessed a true gift: she had the ability to enjoy herself. She saw the beauty of the world."
