Title that begins with the letter B
There are several books that I could have easily selected for B (Black Wings Has My Angel, Big Sleep & Beyond Black immediately come to mind) but as I am currently taking a break from packing up my office to move to a new office which will be based on a hybrid/ open plan model, I am going with Calvino's Baron in the Trees. Channeling Bartleby, the protagonist climbs into the trees & refuses to👇

Practising Italian but I lost some since the time I was working there. Struggling makes reading slower and I tend to do anything instead of picking up my book which is normally my escape from everything...

Three books that I love that not only feature trees in the title, but a #tree plays an important part in the story itself. #wishesandblessings @eggs @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks

This charming love story is full of wonder, but, despite its tree-leaping protagonist, does not climb to the heights that Calvino can summit. A picaresque tale of a boy who rebels against his family by vowing (and succeeding) never to set foot on ground again, it‘s quick and enjoyable but lacks the thematic coherence of Cosmicomics or Invisible Cities. Thus, unlike Cosimo, you might be able to drop from the trees and pick another leaf.

🎶...I believe I have inside of me
Everything that I need to live a bountiful life
And all the love alive in me
I'll stand as tall as the tallest tree...🎶
I love Calvino's whimsical novel of a young Baron who climbs a tree & decides to spending the rest of his life above ground. Calvino reminds us that there's a lot more happening above our heads, Cosimo becomes a modern arboreal Nemo.

Rambling fairy tale interlaced with incisive political and social commentary. At times interesting, cute, and deep. I am glad I read this since it is unlike anything I‘ve ever read, but I didn‘t love it. It was slow at times and I sort of lost interest and then came right back. I would like to read something else by Calvino. Probably Invisible cities, which I‘ve heard is good.

vivastory Invisible Cities is one of my favorites 6y

Two of my favourite classics. Tolkien was love at first reading, while that particular book by Calvino took a second reading to appreciate fully. 📚❤️❤️
