This book got me hooked and I am only on page 21! It is a little sad though. Ms bixby has ductal adenocarcinoma, which is a type of cancer that attacks the pancreas, but she told her students that she is going to “beat this thing”, and I am going to keep reading to find out if she does or not.
#SavvySettings Day 8: Are you a #Dungeon Master teacher, too? 💕💕💕 Here is Fats‘ review of this heart-wrenching book: https://wp.me/pDlzr-eFg
I have just started reading this book, but so far it is awesome! I love that they test for coodies, that is just amazing. I will keep reading and I will make another blurb if it is worthy
Hilarious and sweet and sad.

"Ms. Bixby's Last Day" by John DaVid Anderson. When I read this book. I thought of every teacher that has every made me feel important. In this book Ms. Bixby is one of those teachers, with the help of 3 amazing boys, they give Ms. Bixby the best last day ever! The strategies that you could use for this book are RA and S. The link that I found was www.allthewonders.com/videos/beyond-the-book-ms-bixbys-last-day/. The UDL and ELL strategy I chose
My book haul from the book fair... it is up for another 3 days so I am sure that I will be shopping at least one more time before it closes!!
Fantastic read! 3 boys on an epic adventure to say goodbye to their cancer-stricken teacher. #CampReadALot #Sobfest
I have been putting this book off but decided to bring it on vacation. It's a must read for any teacher who wants to be a "good one". Have the tissues handy. Wouldn't recommend as a class read aloud. Would recommend for upper elementary and middle school. #campbrarian
Oh, my heart. 😭😭😭😭 This book accomplishes something so difficult: being funny while still being heartbreakingly sad. Give this one to kids who want to feel all the feels. #middlegrademay
The #middlegrade reads I hope to finish during the month of May! #TeachersofLitsy
Haha 😂😂 still feeling like a noob in April. #middlegrade #teachersoflitsy
Oh, this book! This is a beautiful story of three friends & their love of their teacher who they deem one of the "good ones." The story shares their quest to give her a perfect day. Along the way you learn about their friendship. You also learn how Ms. Bixby touched each of their lives. This is a #middlegrade read, so it will go quickly, and is worth every moment. ????? #bittersweetsymphony #lyricalapril @Cinfhen
Started this #middlegrade book last night and really enjoying it. The story is about 3 boys who want to make a special day for a teacher they love. Each chapter rotates through each of the boys telling the story.

All the feels with this one. Mid-age kids book recommended to me by a friend who is a middle school librarian. Told with alternating perspective from three 12 year old boys as they take a grand adventure, Ferris Bueller style, to give a beloved teacher a "best last day".
An emotional MG novel about 3 kids - Topher, Steve, & Brand - & their favorite teacher, who gets diagnosed with cancer. Despite the sad storyline, it's a hopeful book which shows that one person (or 3) *can* make a difference.
Great characterization, strong voice(s), lots of humor. You can't think too hard about the risks the ("stupid, punk, psycho") kids take or you want to scream, but I still loved it. Pairs nicely with raspberry cheesecake.
"Epilogues don't count," Topher said. "They're just a way for authors to tack on a happy ending."
I'm calling it now: this book totally has an epilogue.
"The bakery, at least, smells much better than the bus. Everything in here is white, except for Eduardo and me."
Just read this for the kids book club that I lead and Oh, I loved this book so much. The characters were complex and magnificent, it portrayed adults as not terrible and it was a total emotional rollercoaster. I'll agree with the quote on the front: Kids need it.
#Holiday #BookHaul!! Courtesy of the kiddos & their families who gave me so many mugs and bookish gift cards this year. They know me well 😢

This is a great middle grades read. Have your tissues handy.
This book had such a great fresh voice. I loved learning more about Topher, Brand, and Steve.
"We all have moments when we think nobody really sees us. ... But somebody notices ... Somebody out there probably thinks you're the greatest thing in the whole world. Don't ever think you're not good enough."
I sat in my car in the parking lot at work until I finished listening to this one, and sobbed through the ending. My school custodian offered me a hug when I finally made it inside, and I had to explain that I had just finished a really, really good book. That should tell you everything you need to know.
This one could sit alongside other tales about Great Journeys. Topher, Steve, and Brand's quest to see Ms. Bixby is as epic as the trek to Mordor or the Land of Oz. It reminded me in some ways of Stand By Me as well.
Traveled on Seattle's Link Transit passing time with this gem. Got tons of stares at many laugh out loud moments and became attached to each boy and their story.
Wow! I love this kind of book - about a great teacher and what she means to her students. Bring your tissues. This one is beautiful!
Some of my favorite books of the year have been middle-grade tearjerkers! Ms. Bixby's Last Day is the latest; it's the perfect mix of funny and heartfelt. Much love!!
Just finished laughing and ugly-crying my way through this phenomenal book. There is fun and adventure and friendship and inspiration-a magical teacher and moments of honesty and the trickiness of life and all that comes with it. Reminds me of a little book you may have missed called...Wonder. 🙊
