A fun little backstory on my favorite Texan, Arctic Hare, and armoured bear. I continue to be fascinated by Pullman's world and the adventures and conundrums in it.

Loved this story of Lee Scoresby and Iorek Byrnison meeting and becoming friends! Plus some little extras at the end.
He was twenty-four, ready for adventure, and happy to go wherever the winds took him. He'd better be, as Hester reminded him; he wasn't going to go anywhere else.
Well, it was okay. But I wanted more Iorek, less men being manly men, flexing their muscles and talking about guns.
Each is one story from the world so they are very quick reads. I enjoyed them both. The north one is a prequel but the other takes place after. I really hate when they do that to the covers though. One of my biggest peeves. They weren't stickers but are in the covers themselves. And I wanted those specific covers for the artwork. #1stworldproblems
Starting this little His Dark Materials prequel. Had to take the photo to commemorate the fact that our foster cat has finally ventured out of her room after being with us almost a month! (The SPCA where I volunteer had to evacuate the animals into foster care.)
I‘ve been reading a lot of Philip Pullman lately, growing up he was one of my favorite authors and Lee Scoresby the aeronaut from Texas was one of my favorite characters. The other was Iorek Byrnison and this novella is all about how they met in the artic north. It‘s a great prequel to the series and dives pretty deep into both characters, which I really enjoyed.
Sunday afternoon read.
HBO is premiering #HisDarkMaterials soon and while I don‘t have HBO, it‘s definitely going to be on my To Watch list! (Shout out to my parents who don‘t know I‘ll be requesting access to their HBO account in the near future!)

A decade ago, I finished reading the trilogy of His Dark Materials. I loved the universe, the characters, and how there is just no dark and white. Every character is deep, complexed. I did read the books again, and I find tiny little details that I didn't notice at first.. Very few fantasy novels give me such thrill again. So when I stumbled upon this book, same author, same universe and same characters, of course, I said yes.
Did you ?
A much better, more interesting and entertaining read than Lyra's Oxford!
I really loved learning the details about how Lee Scoresby and Iorek Byrnison met, along with other little details about his rifle, Hester, etc.!

Next read!
Looooving this cover, it's just a shame the book itself is quite flimsy/cheap feeling!

Another great short story set in the world of His Dark Materials. This one featured the first meeting of some of my favourite characters, Lee Scoresby and Iorek Byrnison.
Similar to Lyra‘s Oxford, this book featured lots of little added extras and some beautiful little illustrations.
Lee Scorsby back story. I really enjoyed this. I love the whole Dark Materials series as a matter of fact.
It was lovely to dip my toes back into Philip Pullman's magnificent world so like our own, even if it was only a 2-hour short story. It makes me want to reread all of His Dark Materials though...it's been a good ten years or so...
Snaps to the Arlington Library e-Audiobooks, saving me from insomnia! Listening to this wee short story about characters from His Dark Materials.
