Some bits were a bit long winded but overall I really enjoyed this!
Some bits were a bit long winded but overall I really enjoyed this!
I've only just opened this book and the acknowledgments page has already hit so hard.
Boland really does make it easy. Everything was put simply and clearly; it's definitely a good book for a first time reader of astrology.
I've fairly recently gotten into astrology, mostly just because it's fun. I'm still sort of on the side lines about whether or not I believe in astrology, because being a little cynical about things is a healthy part of being! (That's probably my Taurus moon talking.) So far, everything I've read has rung true.
I'm disappointed, to say the least. Everyone seemed to hype this up, made it seem like a story with great depth and complex characters but I felt like there wasn't really anything to it. It got somewhat interesting towards the end, but other than that there was so much book that could have been utilized for the actual storyline; by that I mean a good chunk of it seemed irrelevant and unnecessary. Review continued 👇
This was a waste of time in the grand scheme of things 😑 the only thing really relevent to the whole story was the beginning, in a flashback where they're all arriving at camp.
So much backstory and character building in this one! Loved it!
The storyline was pretty meh in comparison to the first two, unfortunately. Pretty much nothing happened.
I also really hate when graphic novels change art style, this one in particular made the characters lose some of their individual personality, and they generally all look the same too.
This one wasn't as good as the previous ones. I loved the chapter where they were at a festival, but the rest was a bit sub-standard for me. Hopefully the next one picks up.
Still sad about the artist change but I'm getting used to it now.
Seems like the overall plot of the books is starting to gain traction now, if only by a bit.
A day late 😆 Thanks for the tag @TK421!

Currently reading. Spoiler alert: So far, it sucks.

Did not finish. Couldn't get past the first chapter, just not my thing. (Mostly in terms of writing style)
This just came in the post! I wasn't expecting it since I pre-ordered and completely forgot about it 😂 was a nice surprise! 😻
Forgot to post about this! Just finished and loved it, although there was something about it that I felt had a different feel to the other books. Maybe it's that Klaus and Violet were well and truly hopeless, and pretty much swapped skills for necessity. Didn't really like that aspect of the story but the rest was good!
1. Youngest
2. My sister and I wanted a little brother for the longest time! 😆
3. Just an older sister.
4. I can't actually think of any. So I must not have a favourite 🙄
5. I'm sure I could, let's see shall we... @pilardib! Found you! Took me forever, even if you are a twin it counts... Right?? 😅

I found that this was inexplicably long winded in places, and found myself skipping past small sections of paragraphs I knew were irrelevant drawl. It was seriously dull, and I feel it to be the type of book that I'll easily forget about.
2 and a half stars: the premise is good, the execution not so much. The characters were boring, annoying and I didn't care about them at any point in the story.
Too many unneccessaries for my liking.
Currently reading ft. my boy Sydney 📖💕

Really loved this one, these books just keep getting better and better. Aunt Josephine was both insufferable and loveable in equal measure, but I think Dr. Montgomery Montgomery is still my favourite (so far)!
"Well, maybe the peg leg was false," Count Olaf admitted, and took a step backwards. "But I've never seen this tattoo in my life."
There's some seriously great quotes in these books ? this one, along with "Come along, little idiots" are my fave!
This made me want peppermints. 😩
I felt this wasn't as good as the first, but loved it none the less! Although, I'm disappointed in the artist change in the middle of the book. It's not to say it's not a good art style, but I feel it takes some of the "personality" from the story/characters. I felt there were also a lot more laugh out loud moments with the first book, again, because the art style gave the words more depth.
None the less, will keep on reading these!
1. Vacuuming. The noise is ahhh 😩
2. My step dad, often makes the roast dinners.
3. Same
4. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, I think. Read it all in one night when I was 13 (which was a lot for me back then!)
5. Organising the books, probably 😆

My inner monologue, 70%* of the time:
"Hey, Jez?
Yeah? Wassup? ?
Stop buying books YOU INCOMPETENT BUFFOON!!"
*The other 30% is spent thinking about what books to buy. ?
A much better, more interesting and entertaining read than Lyra's Oxford!
I really loved learning the details about how Lee Scoresby and Iorek Byrnison met, along with other little details about his rifle, Hester, etc.!

Next read!
Looooving this cover, it's just a shame the book itself is quite flimsy/cheap feeling!

I'll admit, I really do /love/ to hate this series. One dimensional characters, bad descriptors (I always struggle to visualise what the author is trying to portray, except for the food. She's pretty excellent at describing food.) and random/terrible plot devices are left, right, and center up in this biznitch! 🙄

I loved this! It's one of the cutest books I've read in a long time, and the art style is to die for.
Currently reading.
Monologue when I started reading The Heir, after reading the 3 previous books and not enjoying them: Why am I doing this to myself again?
Lord knows. 🤔
1. Goodreads, Litsy~

Everyone seems to be going into book slumps, you poor souls! ❤️ There really is nothing like wanting to read but not having the desire to 😑
I've been in one myself for the past month or so, that's why I've been somewhat vacant from Litsy. Hoping to drag myself out of it soon!
I'd be lying if I said I didn't expect more from this book. Felt a very pointless read in the grand scheme of things, but that's not to say it wasn't well written and atleast somewhat enthralling; it's just a shame it ended as it was starting to get exciting.
#LitsyAtoZ #LetterL
This book started out so. Boring. But by the end it seemed to gain some traction.
While the predominant family are white, this book is /fairly/ diverse/inclusive, with:
An older lesbian couple
An interracial couple, with child (and another couple briefly at the end)
A Chinese caregiver
An adopted Chinese child, with a cleft lip
Were they good representations? It's hard for me to say as I'm none of the above, but I'd like to say so.
#MountTBR
I'm book slumping majorly, so it took me about a month or so to finish this. Slumping aside, I actually really enjoyed this book and it was super interesting and informative! I loved Leah's narrative and her somewhat abrasive personality. She is blunt, but so very empathetic, caring and kind. Would definitely recommend reading if you're curious about the ins and outs of Scientology.

Only ever had twizzlers, and have read neither J.R.R. Tolkien or George R. R. Martin but really enjoy both their onscreen universes. But Game of Thrones is definitely my fave of the two!

I'm somewhat bored with this book. I don't really care for any of the characters either, which may be why!
