Real Ghosts, Restless Spirits, and Haunted Places
Real Ghosts, Restless Spirits, and Haunted Places | Brad Steiger
6 posts | 4 read | 8 to read
The culmination of Brad Steigers 50 years of paranormal research, this book is a bold telling of true ghost stories and firstperson encounters with the supernatural. Arranged topically, it covers every sort of ghost and haunting: poltergeists, shadow beings, and phantoms alongside haunted apartments, hotels, and trains. From ghosts that still haunt Ohios State Reformatory, otherwise known as Shawshank, to Abe Lincolns regular consultation with mediums, this compendium delves into the true scary stories from both historical documents and personal accounts. In its 30 chapters, spirits represented include the good (Ghosts that Saved Lives), the bad (Invisible Home Wreckers), and the ugly (Demonic Spirits That Whisper Commands to Kill). The book goes on to unearth the ghastly goingson and macabre manifestations at haunted places such as museums, churches, graveyards, restaurants, and sacred sites while also instructing how to perform a cleansing ritual to rid a home of unwanted spectral visitors. This second edition is updated to include new stories and compelling evidence of both the existence of ghosts and proof of hauntings that will entertain, induce chills, and make the doubtful believe.

#Scareathlon #ChillingPhotoChallenge #day1 #Haunted I love Halloween & am bummed it‘s not a big deal here, plus no turning leaves🍂So I‘m living vicariously through you Northern Hemisphere Littens. Ghosts have always been my thing,my childhood home was haunted(really!)I‘ve had many people tell me my current house is too.I‘ve been on ghost tours all over NSW & even caught one on camera,so I love reading NF & F about hauntings. #TeamSlaughter 2points

Zelma If it makes you feel better, some of us in the Northern hemisphere still have hot nasty weather. I am envious too! 5y
Clwojick I would actually pee my pants if I caught a picture of a ghost. 🙈 5y
Lizpixie @Clwojick I was on a ghost tour at The Quarantine Station,on North Head at the mouth of Sydney Harbour, where for 250yrs ships with disease onboard put ashore and the passengers disenfected etc. A lot died from plague, yellow fever & other sicknesses. It was a night tour & I was at the back of the pack when I heard bootsteps behind me & swishing of a coat but no one was there. I ran to catch up, went around the corner of the wrap-around verandah👇 5y
Lizpixie @Clwojick of the hospital building, pulled out my phone, spun around and took a photo before bolting. When I looked at it later it was all black except for a white outline right in the middle of the screen. I swear there was no one behind me. I was with my two eldest & at the end of the tour my knee was aching so we waited on our own for the guide with the car. I swear we could feel people looking at us, the kids were terrified!👻 5y
Clwojick Oh my gooooood! 🙈🙈🙈 I would‘ve cried. 👻 5y

#FallIntoBooks #day22 #FallReads Whilst it is actually Spring in Australia, it's still the time of Halloween, Pumpkin Spice Lattes & witchy merch in the shops. It's when I break out my scary reads, fiction & non fiction, coz what's better than a good scare in October? I have classics like Stephen King, House Of Leaves & Dean Koontz as well as books about real life hauntings like The Uninvited, Graves End & the tagged book. Bring on the horror!

Natasha.C.Barnes So what's the usual temperature like on the 31st? Spring can mean so many things, but if it's warmer then it must be nice not to have to bundle up when trick-or-treating! (edited) 7y
Lizpixie @Natasha.C.Barnes in Australia we don't really go trick or treating. The last few years there's been trickles of them but nothing major. The average temp on the 31st of Oct in Sydney is 22C⬆️(72F) so it's not hot but it's not chilly either. I'd much rather have autumn weather! 7y
ReadingEnvy LOVE. I have company coming tomorrow and I'm hoping to put up Halloween decorations by then. 🎃 7y

Natasha.C.Barnes @Lizpixie See, yeah, that question was also in the back of my mind...so no trick-or-treating. Any costume parties? 7y

#AllHallowsRead #photoadaychallenge #scaryreads #favoritescarynonfiction I seriously tossed up whether I'd use my haunting books or my true crime coz serial killers & the horror humans can do to each other can be so much more scary than anything paranormal, but I love my ghosts. I was first addicted to hauntings after I had my own experience then read The Amityville Horror. Since then I've read anything I could find & been on many ghost tours.👻

Fun Photo Friday, a bit late but I've been unwell. I'm an eclectic reader, I love fantasy, crime & mystery, but I have a fascination with ghosts & hauntings. I've been on a few ghost tours, the best at Quarantine Station in Sydney where I not only saw a ghost, I took a photo of it!

StephTKO We would be best friends IRL. Lol. I always force everyone to go on ghost tours with me. 8y
StaceyKondla Very nice! 8y
Lizpixie @StephTKO I'd love to see some of the haunted places overseas. The Myrtles plantation and some of the old asylums in America, and the castles in the U.K would be awesome! 8y

NatalieR I think we are twins separated at birth. 😜👻 8y
QuoteQueen Nope nope nope. I don't do ghost hunts. My hubs on the other hand loves them... 😜 He was touched once! 😳 nope nope nope... 8y
moranadatter Your shelf looks amazing! I love ghost stories! I have a bunch of the little tourist books from various places with their local ghost stories. 👻 8y
Lizpixie @NatalieR @VeteransWife512 @kmdartist I was last in the group at the Q Station, which is all big verandahed buildings on a cliff, coming into the hospital building when I heard footsteps behind me and swishing like a cloak. I started walking faster & it was like a feeling of dread. 8y
Lizpixie As I came around the corner of the verandah, I spun around and took a picture with my phone. Looking at it later in the car, it's all black, except for a white see through figure in the middle. The scariest part though was the shower block. Ghosthunters International did an investigation there on tv 8y
Lizpixie It's the scariest place I've ever been in.👻 8y
QuoteQueen Creepy! 8y
Lizpixie @kmdartist Thanks! It was for last Halloween, first time I've ever carved a real pumpkin too. 8y
NatalieR Cool experience! Thanks for sharing. At Waverly Sanitarium in Louisville Ky, my husband felt something grab his hat, like someone/something was trying to take it off his head. I LOVE ghost stories! 👻 8y
Lizpixie @NatalieR didn't Ghosthunters on SyFy do an episode there? 8y
NatalieR Yes. I think Ghost Adventures did too. It's pretty popular. 8y
