The Secret Diary of Laura Palmer
The Secret Diary of Laura Palmer | Jennifer Lynch
Laura Palmer was introduced to television audiences in the opening scenes of "Twin Peaks"--as a beautiful dead girl, wrapped in plastic. Now available in print for the first time in many years (and in e-book for the very first time!), THE SECRET DIARY OF LAURA PALMER chronicles Laura's life from age 12 to her death at 17, and is filled with secrets, character references, and even clues to the identity of her eventual killer. Fans of the show will love seeing their favorite characters again, and Laura's diary makes compelling reading as she turns from a naive freshman having her first kiss to a "bad girl" experimenting with drugs, sex and the occult."As seen by" Jennifer Lynch, creator David Lynch's daughter, THE SECRET DIARY OF LAURA PALMER is authentic, creepy, and a perfect book for anyone who loves supernatural suspense.

I think you can read this without watching the show. It read like Go Ask Alice and the voice/writing is older than a 12-16 teen. But I like dark tales. This book contains a lot of abuse drugs and sex so read at your own risk. Now I want to go watch Twin Peaks.

1.) I don't know actually because we're living at the very top of an apartment building. 🤷‍♂️ we have Halloween decorations up though and carved pumpkins etc for the kids. 🎃

2.) No, it's FBI Agent Dale Cooper from the TV series Twin Peaks! 😃☕

I just watched the fabulous #TwinPeaks for the first time last year. What a great effing show!! If you‘ve seen at least the first 2 seasons and the movie, I would highly recommend this via audiobook, because it‘s narrated by the lovely Sheryl Lee. It gives way more insight into Laura‘s psyche and makes me empathize with her even more. It‘s very dark but definitely worth a listen. 4⭐️

#Audiobook

CarolynM We couldn't bear to miss an episode back in the 90's 🙂 4y

Went for all walks;
Went running instead of gym;

Got a huge twin peaks craving again, so i guess one of the two books that I've set a goal to read will be Laura's diary.

Where are all my #TwinPeaks fans at? T-minus 10 days until hubby takes me to Seattle to see a handful of the filming sites! Does anyone have tips for tackling all the reading material?

I really like Twin Peaks, but there's something to be said for hinting at secretive, shocking behavior, rather than explicitly portraying it like this tie-in novel does. If it weren't for some super creepy BOB sections (BOB!), this would be a pan. #pop18 #setinthedecadeyouwereborn #80sbaby #modernmrsdarcy #idratherbereading #nominatedforanawardin2018

(I should add that Sheryl Lee's narration is fabulous!)

Remember when Cursed Child cam out last summer and a lot of people were like "this feels like Harry Potter fan fiction." That's basically how I felt reading this - that it was Twin Peaks fan fiction. It's not bad, but there is something that just feels slightly off in terms of how the characters act and in Laura's voice. There is, however, an awesome scene with Laura and the Log Lady, and the book makes her canonically bisexual.

Today's mail/this week's plans:
1) read Laura Palmer's diary and watch Fire Walk with Me in preparation for the new season of Twin Peaks (Sunday!)
2) consume a whole bunch of laxative and contrast for a ct colonography (having a chronic illness is SO FUN! I am super duper looking forward to drinking 250ml of banana smoothie flavored contrast 🤢)

A lot of reviews have said that a lot of this "doesn't sound like Laura," but honestly? There's so much of this that is easy to imagine in Sheryl Lee's breathy voice, so much that leaps right off the page as only a Lynch could make it. It's twisted, and it's creepy, but most of all, it's sad, because it at last gives us Laura in her own words, every broken and scared and dark piece of her. #twinpeaks #laurapalmer #jenniferlynch

Day 3: For my #unreliablenarrator, I decided on the complicated girl who sits at the heart of one of the greatest mysteries in television history. In celebration of the long-awaited return of "Twin Peaks" - 25 years later, as the show itself promised - what better time to pick this up? #maybookflowers #laurapalmer #jenniferlynch #twinpeaks

I started this one awhile ago, but I destroyed my first copy by spilling water on it. Anyway, I found this to be an awesome companion to the tv show and the movie. A very dark look into the events leading up to Laura Palmer's murder in her perspective. Also, my first read of 2017! #litsyatoz

This gives an in-depth look into the life of Laura Palmer before her death. I couldn't help but feeling sorry for her! This is probably not a book for the faint-of-heart. 🦉🦉🦉🦉🦉🦉

Stephykitten This book sounds good! But I've never watched Twin Peaks. Is this a true story of Laura, or based on her character? The description was vague 🤔🤓 7y
kylienoele @Stephykitten Laura is a fictional character from Twin Peaks and this is her diary! She writes in it from the age of 12 until her death, (I hope that's not spoiling anything, but finding her killer is what the show is about) and it's her personal account of what's happening to her throughout those years! 7y
Bostonmomx2 @Marilyn1970 this sounds like a book you'd like!! 7y

I read this book as a teenage girl living in an emotional chaos that seemed hopeless and eternal at the time. This book captures that feeling of helplessness, unique to childhood, when you are living a life that is someone else's design. I felt understood. Rereading it as an adult, it holds up quite well. Rereading it again soon in anticipation of The Secret History of Twin Peaks. I highly recommend this dark and beautiful little book.
