Fat Vampire
Fat Vampire: A Never Coming of Age Story | Adam Rex
16 posts | 14 read | 21 to read
Doug Lee is undead quite by accidentattacked by a desperate vampire, he finds himself cursed with being fat and fifteen forever. When he has no luck finding some goth chick with a vampire fetish, he resorts to sucking the blood of cows under cover of the night. But its just not the same. Then he meets the new Indian exchange student and falls for herhard. Yeah, he wants to bite her, but he also wants to prove himself to her. But like the laws of life, love, and high school, the laws of vampire existence are complicatedits not as easy as studying Dracula. Especially when the star of Vampire Hunters is hot on your trail in an attempt to boost ratings. . . . Searing, hilarious, and always unexpected, Fat Vampire is a satirical tour de force from one of the most original writers of fiction today.

Book 110🎧 2.5⭐️

Kirby‘s narration - 5⭐️

Listened to this one on my travels this weekend, a fun take on vampires!🧛🏻‍♂️ Good for a laugh👌🏻

Doug is overweight and a bit of an outcast. And now that he‘s turned into a vampire, he‘s stuck that way🩸

Yuki_Onna Where did you go last weekend, Bunny? 🤩 2y
BeeMagical @Yuki_Onna no where fancy😂 just northern Ontario haha! For my Nonnas birthday ❤️😊 2y

So. I mean it was cute. It had some cute parts. But I wanted more of the story. I wanted a better ending. To learn more about the affliction Sejal has. Also I mean it think they threw everything at it. The show, Sejal, bats, fat vampire, teen bullies. Just kinda sad that it had such great potential but kinda teetered out.

This weekend I went to Edmonton to PureSpec Festival with my bookish best friend and we also hit up the Edmonton Public Library book sale (I brought home this stack for a mere $10)

Alright, i get the poor reviews but i thought it was still fun. Maybe because I read Sejal as the main character? It does feel like two books smooshed together, and the first with the high school snark was preferable. I wish there were more about being fat for eternity since that's what i came for 😂 it made me think of Bill's sideburns in the Sookie Stackhouse books 😘 #mommyreads #booksforbreakfast #vampires #booksandcoffee

ElizaMarie Yeah! I just finished it and I enjoyed it but... I wanted to hear more about the whole fat for life thing. Like more his struggle with being a Teen for life too! 5y

What the heck, it was good until the last ten minutes. Sadly disappointed. Giving it a so-so because it made me laugh a few times, and I really was enjoying it.... but that ending. Why?! 😥

Making these ADORABLE "Mint To Be" mints for the wedding, while listening to an audiobook about a Fat Vampire. ?

Maybe I was meant to be a party planner, because (so far) this is coming along so well.

Andrea4 Haha I had that thought too when planning my wedding!!! 😂😂 those are very cute favours btw! 7y
alanacristin I just started that book! How's the audio version? 7y
Clwojick @alanacristin I'm liking it quite a bit. About halfway through. I also have the physical book. Lol 7y

Rachellynnwright Oh man, I wish I felt that way about planning my wedding... so far every aspect is just giving me anxiety! Ugh I don‘t want to do it!! 7y
Cathythoughts “Mint to be “ ❤️I love it 7y
Clwojick @Rachellynnwright I am normally super OCD so I expected to be high strung about everything, but it honestly really helped us to just be engaged for the first year. One year after he proposed, we started planning... and I truly believe that's helped keep my stress at bay. 7y

Starting this audiobook today. 💞

Tmaharet I never understood the end so it kind of ruined the book for me, I'm really looking forward to see your opinion on this. 7y
Clwojick @Tmaharet ugh. That ending. I hated that ending. Why?! 😥 7y

#TBRtemptation post 9! I love this cover 😂👏🏻. This YA comedic horror follows Maurice who makes friends--finally someone!--with co-worker Reginald, who turns out to be a 1,000-year-old vampire. And who turns him to save his life. Making Reg the most unfit, out-of-shape vampire ever. So bad that the Vampire Council wants him gone as a bad rep of their species. But he does have some rare powers after all. #blameLitsy #blameMrBook 😎

Riveted_Reader_Melissa That does sound tempting....and funny! 7y
librarygoddess619 I've been curious about this book. Thanks for your take! 7y

I probably should have bailed on this audiobook, but I stuck with it to the bitter end. Parts were funny, but nothing about the story never quite came together for me. I've heard good things about Adam Rex's middle grade books, so I'll probably check some of those out even though I didn't like this YA title.

I wasn't all that keen on the ending. It was kind of anti-climactic with a huge number of unanswered questions. We got so many different points of view that to only get limited takes on the ending was disappointing. Bentley looks askance as I explained the ending to him. I believe he expected more.
