Lasher
Lasher | Anne Rice
From the day her first Vampire Chronicle was published, critics and readers--readers by the hundreds of thousands--have been mesmerized by the writings of Anne Rice. And with the publication of The Witching Hour, she created for us yet another world and legend, and both the chorus of praise and the multitudes of her readers once more increased. Now, Anne Rice brings us again--even more magically--into the midst of the dynasty of witches she introduced in The Witching Hour. At the center: the brilliant an beautiful Rowan Mayfair, queen of the coven, and Lasher, the darkly compelling demon whom she finds irresistible and from whose evil spell and vision she must now flee. She takes with her their terrifying and exquisite child, one of "a brood of children born knowing, able to stand and talk on the first day." Rowan's attempt to escape Lasher and his pursuit of her and their child are at the heart of this extraordinary saga. It is a novel that moves around the globe, backward and forward through time, and between the human and demonic worlds. Its many voices--of women, of men, of demons and angels, present and past--haunt and enchant us. With a dreamlike power, the novel draws us through twilight paths, telling a chillingly hypnotic story of occult and spiritual aspirations and passion.

So many triggers in these books. I‘m constantly cringing while reading. However it is Anne Rice, it‘s expected. I did enjoy listening to it. I remembered loving this series years ago and now I just find them to be ok.

Enjoyed this re-read for #bookspin but had forgotten how bloody long it is! Not quite as good as the witching hour, but good to get more of Lasher‘s history, and also hear more from Julian, whom I LOVE

I thought this book was way longer the 642 pages as it actually took me 21 days to read it. #AlmostAChunkster #ChunksterChallenge2023 @Amiable

Mehso-so

There are a lot of different editions of this book. I read the one that was 642 pages. I am disappointed in this book. It was not aboutanything I expected. It was weird and had an ending with questions, so I may have to read the third one, but I will wait a while. It was long for me. I did manage to find 4 bingo spots with all the editions. I hope that is not cheating too much, lol.#ISpyBingoJuly@Clwojick @TheAromaofBooks .#SeriesLove23 @Andrew65

I plan on at least starting these two books over the weekend. With Canada day weekend and farmers markets I'm in, reading time will be down, but it shouldn't be hard to get 20 chapters read #20in4Readathon @Andrew65

I finished thislast night, and I‘ve been struggling with how to review it. Definitely a pick, but I initially gave it 5 stars—there is so much that I love about it: the story really picks up after the disappointing end of the first book, some new POV characters, and Julien‘s story is fascinating. Long, richly detailed, and completely absorbing, but some of the sex stuff got to be too much at times, and omg Mona is 13! 😣

So... ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Has anyone read Lasher? I read The Witching Hour and liked it, but am having a hard time getting into this book. I am on page 101 of 629. I don‘t know why I can‘t get into it. Does it get any better?

CatLass007 I don‘t remember if it gets any better or not, but I finished it when it first came out. 6y
