pickI had so many visions of John Boy as I read this. I couldn‘t recall how this one ended (I remember watching the movie years ago!), but Richard Paul Evans doesn‘t spare the children in his tiny stories. I kept reading, and hoping, oh please, not Jenna. Whew.

pickI might be giving this a higher rating because I've always loved the 1995 made-for-TV movie based on this book. This is one of those rare instances where the movie is better than the book. Don't get me wrong, the book has a great message. I just feel it was a little too short with very little conflict, and the characters weren't fleshed out enough. Still, this is a quick read and worth reading this time of year. Find a copy of the movie! 4⭐️
So for today's #LyricalApril prompt, I was originally just going to show one book about someone who takes a holiday. But then I thought "Hey, why don't I just take a picture of my slightly embarrassing horde of holiday novels." So that's what I did. There's Valentine, Halloween, but it's mostly Christmas.
