Okay... I literally never hear this book mentioned and I have no clue why it was so FREAKING GOOD! It was so much different then I thought it was going to be, I'm a huge fan of interview formats in books... no idea why but it was a pleasant surprise when I found it in here.

The very Disneyland meets Westworld, with the court case and murder mystery was just so much fun and all the sprinkling of fairytales throughout the story loved I it!

The cover of “The Kingdom” by Jess Rothenberg is why i picked this book up!
Yes, i admit🖐 the sparkles & shininess attracted me! I thought the idea of “Fantasists” was very interesting. As well as the switches of past & present.
But sadly it took a while to get into the story. Especially to the event that the description of the back cover is refering to!
For me a So So read!

I loved this book! A quick, fascinating read. In the age of more and more talk of artificial intelligence, I can‘t help but imagine some version of this story could be a future reality. Ana is a fascinating lead character, and her world and her relationships with her sisters, are equal parts intriguing and creepy. If you‘re a Disney fan like me, you are sure to enjoy this book!

4/5⭐

This. I liked this. A very quick read, it keeps you wanting to read one more chapter before putting it down, but realizing how short the next chapter is makes you read another one, and so on. I flew through this! It was alright, I really liked this hybrid concept, first book I ever read with hybrids! This was the perfect book to recover from A Little Life 😅

LibrarianRyan I love that cover. What version UK or AUS, or ??? 5y
dxmy @LibrarianRyan It says printed in the UK! 5y
LibrarianRyan @dxmy Very cool. The US version has the same colors but a completely different cover. If I remember when I get home I'll take a picture. 5y

dxmy @LibrarianRyan isn't that the one with the split face? 5y
LibrarianRyan @dxmy yeah. That is what drew it to me in the first place. 5y
dxmy @LibrarianRyan I understand, that's an intriguing cover! I like that one better, represents the book better in my opinion, though this one isn't too bad either 🤭 5y

Humans are capable of such cruelty. Suck horror. And in order to become one...I've had to become capable of that, too.

If you've seen Westworld, the concept is a tad similar. This is a YA fantasy+thriller and I promise you that you'll not be able to put it down. I read this for a readathon and I breezed through this book and was left wanting more of it. The Kingdom is basically like Disneyland but with cutting-edge tech to create a more authentic experience for its visitors..

5⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

BookNightOwl I listened to the audiobook of The Kingdom by Jess Rothenberg. It takes place at a Family Park sort of like a futuristic Disney World. This place has like hybrid robot like princess and hybrid like animals.

There is something going on and Ana is starting to question a lot about her life and the place she lives in. Something of her stature shouldn't be doing. The story alternates back and forth before and murder and after a murder. I really enjoyed this story but would like to get my hands on the Physical Copy to reread!

I loved this book! The idea of artificial intelligence and cyborgs set in a Disney-like park is engaging and a great addition to the fantasy genre. If you have watched HBO‘s Westworld, and enjoyed it, and you like young adult literature than you will enjoy this new work by Jess Rothenberg.

That was interesting. The whole time I was reading it, it reminded me of a futuristic Disneyland gone wrong. The song, “it‘s a Small World” in a creepy tune was playing in my head. With that said, that‘s all good. This book is original and interesting and while I was pretty sure of the plot twist it didn‘t lessen the story.
