Everyone has sorrow. Everyone has obligations. Everyone keeps going. You lean on the people who love you. You do the best you can, and you keep going.
⭐️⭐️⭐️ . Cannie‘s daughter joy is 13 and prepping for her bat mitzvah. Navigating teen social scene she discovers a book her mom wrote right after having her that leads to many questions. Cannie and Joy narrate as thier relationship becomes fraught. Great descriptions of the bat mitzvah competitive scene. Overall, Cannie is less fun than I expected and the book much sadder. wished there was more Maxie Rider. An enjoyable listen
Nailed it.
Day 21 #riotgrams Not #badcovers because they‘re ugly but because they‘re a pet peeve: where‘s the rest of their faces? @bookriot
This is the second book I've read by Jennifer Weiner and I enjoyed this book as much as the last one. I like how she alternated the chapters between mother and daughter were you get a real sense of emotions and connection.
I hope that I will never be considered an #unreliablenarrator by my nieces and nephews. 😄
#riotgrams day 13 - #pinkcovers
I'm not at home, so this was a smidge more challenging than it would have been. Luckily, my Goodreads list reminded me what pink covers I've read recently. Side note, Jennifer Weiner's Certain Girls made me ugly cry so hard.
Why did this book have to take a turn and get depressing?? Well more depressing. Not enjoying this one anywhere near as much as the first book.
Library excursion. Book club is next week so figured I'd get some quick reads before the next book is set
I read this sequel to Good in Bed years after, and it's a much different book than I expected. It's an chick lit, as the other book was, but this is something much deeper that deals with difficult issues like death and parenting and family dynamics. It had funny moments, but was a serious book.
"And do you want the music before or after they set your corpse on fire?" "Before," he said, reclaiming his plate. "Once you light a corpse on fire, it's all downhill from there."
