If faking love is this easy... how do you know when it's real? The brand new novel from Sunday Times bestselling author Mhairi McFarlane Laurie and Jamie have the perfect office romance (They set the rules via email) Everyone can see they're head over heels (They staged the photos) This must be true love (They're faking it) When Laurie is dumped by her partner of eighteen years, she's blindsided. Not only does she feel humiliated, they still have to work together. So when she gets stuck in the lift with handsome colleague Jamie, they hatch a plan to stage the perfect romance. Revenge will be sweet... But this fauxmance is about to get complicated. You can't break your heart in a fake relationship - can you? 'Beautiful and touching - I loved it so much!' Marian Keyes 'Super funny, packs an emotional punch and deeply, deliciously romantic' Cressida McLaughlin 'Funny, crackling with sexual tension, and .... a total joy to read' Louise O'Neill

It was ok; I ended up just skimming through it for the sake of finishing. It was a little mechanical & hard to read when it got wordy in very British English. I liked their relationship, just wish we got to see it develop more. I also liked that her ex wasn‘t this evil stereotype. Also everybody seemed horribly sexist and judgy except Jamie?? Weird. He was the best character; I liked his vulnerability and honesty the most

Completely enjoyed this rom com. At first, I wasn‘t sure if Jamie would turn out to be good enough for Laurie 😉

Read a romance involving social media to fulfill a prompt for the Stronger Spine Reading Challenge AND my first ever #BookSpinBingo @TheAromaofBooks !!!

I liked the book, but I think the author developed the FMC's deterioration of her previous relationship and the heartbreak over that more so than she did the actual romance 😅

TheAromaofBooks Yay bingo!!! I felt the SAME WAY about this one. The half of the book honestly just felt SO depressing & in the end I found it hard to believe that she could get over her almost-20-years-long relationship & move on with someone new so quickly, especially considering how much of the book was about her being devastated by the old relationship ending. I enjoyed it but it was kind of a downer instead of the lighthearted read I was expecting. 4y
dainarmb @TheAromaofBooks EXACTLY. I wanted to see more of Jamie's charm influencing her! But I also can see how the author focused on her developing herself and finding her self-respect again... but still feel like Jamie was just there to exist LOL 4y

I read this one for #LMPBC so I don't want to get too carried away here. I overall did enjoy this one, but the reason Laurie agrees to the fake relationship is to save face with her ex, who breaks up with her at the beginning of the book. This story ended up being way more about Laurie dealing with the aftermath of the ending of a very long-term relationship than it was about fake relationship shenanigans, so the tone of this one was much more ⬇️

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) down than I was expecting - frankly, the first hundred pages are pretty depressing. I think this story would have read a lot better if Laurie's previous relationship hadn't been so long - in the end it wasn't completely believable that she would go from being devastated about the demolition of her 18-year relationship to completely in love with a new guy. STILL overall fun & engaging & a lot of discussion points for the group!! 4y

Well, friends, it's been a super busy week at work (tis the season for ramping up greenhouse production!) & I am SO EXCITED about the weekend (& since I only work 4 days a week, my weekend starts today!!) I've actually still been reading a decent amount, but haven't had a lot of time for social media. I'm also reading four chapter-a-day books, so even though I'm staying well ahead of my March goal of 150pgs/day, I'm not actually FINISHING ⬇

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) a lot of books! 😂 All that to say, my goal for the #AnyWayYouReadathon is to finish four books, including the tagged for #LMPBC. I think three books is very doable, but four is going to be a stretch as I do have a LOT of chores to catch up on around here!!!

Thanks for hosting @kimmypete1 @Eggbeater @MidnightBookGirl !!

Okay #LMPBC friends, I think I am going to keep it simple & choose one I already own!! Tagged looks like typical romcom fun. Meet Me at the Museum is the shortest & seems to be written mostly in letters. Save the Date is the longest (slightly over 400pgs). First Comes Marriage is the first in a series & may be racy haha The Summer House looks super regular & relaxing. First Date is borderline YA & published by Thomas Nelson so it may have some ⬇️

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) Christian themes.

Now you know everything I know - any of these sound appealing? I still have a whole list if none of these tickle anyone's fancy!!

Laughterhp My top 3 choices would be If I Never Met You, The Summer House and Meet Me at the Museum. Or First Comes Marriage. 4y
Chrissyreadit I‘ve read Save The Date- tbh it was between a soso and pick, so I would not want to read it again. My choices are the same as @Laughterhp 4y
hes7 I‘m good with any of them! 4y
TheAromaofBooks Okay, I'm going to go with If I Never Met You, & I'll keep The Summer House a backup in case the first one turns out to be trash 😂 @Chrissyreadit @Laughterhp @hes7 (edited) 4y

Good. Interesting characters and concept. I love how all her characters feel so real when which helps to believe in the story and that you go along with all the twists and turns with them and feel what they feel.

This is a cute rom-com with an easy flow to it. There is nothing surprising here and it is nice to have a likable male character. I like the story and most of the characters but I just can't seem to root for Laurie. While Laurie is easy going, she is also not really all that likable, not UNlikable, but I kept thinking, Jamie could do better.

A very enjoyable Romantic Comedy, which was very well written, and was a pleasure to read. Loved the main characters, and the surrounding characters. Predictable in a way but then most romantic comedies are but it didn‘t spoil the fun of the read. Well worth reading if you enjoy these style of books.

Book 4 finished for #MidYearRush and Book 2 of #24B4Monday, now at 12hrs 41 mins.

Clwojick This ones on my TBR! Glad to hear it‘s a good one.♥️ 4y

What an emotional rollercoaster! I knew it was centered around a fake dating situation after a breakup, but I missed the info on the seriousness of the previous relationship. The first 1/4 or so of the book is the breakup happening and it was ROUGH emotionally-speaking, so know that going in if you decide to read. I finished the audiobook in 2 days, but wouldn‘t consider it a fluffy read. The ending felt a bit rushed but overall I did enjoy it.

Made me laugh out loud. Romance with belly laughs. I also appreciated it being set in Manchester. (I won't be moving to Chorlton any time soon!)

‘Can I have a quick word?‘ he said, briskly leading Laurie to a store cupboard which was known colloquially as Churchill‘s War Rooms, given it was solely used for hatching plots, strategic planning, and arguments too vicious or sensitive for the shop floor. And storage.

‘We both said it was the easiest thing we‘d ever done, we never even thought of it that way. And I always meant it, Laurie, always. But maybe now, at thirty-six, it‘s caught up with me. I don‘t feel I‘ve lived enough.‘ Laurie took a deep breath and tried to get past how much this hurt. She‘d stifled him, stopped him from going on expeditions, with his fascinating penis as travel companion.
