This book would be good for kindergarteners and 1st grade. Its a simple for the students to understand and start to read with. Highly recommend this book for young students.

This book is traditional literature. I really liked this book and think it‘s a great story for kids. Stories about fish are great because the pictures are always eye catching. The plot is very simple and easy for students to follow along.

Swimmy is a Caldecott book written by Leo Lionni. The main character is a unique fish. Swimmy gives a good message because it is about a fish who is very different but very special in his own way. I would read this book because it is a good story and it gives very detailed descriptions of things and it is a positive message to individuals.

published 1963. This books illustrations are nothing like I have very seen before! This author made his illustrations from stamps. He took his sponges and cut them to the shape he likes and and dip them in paint and put them on the page. There is also a great message behind this book of working together and never giving up!

Swimmy by Leo Lionni is an adorable and encouraging book for elementary ages students to read. Swimmy is a brave little fish that will teach students the true power of teamwork. Swimmy and his friends work together to chase the big fish in the sea away and they are no longer scared now that they know they have each other. The illustrations in this book are beautiful and I absolutely love the lesson in this short story. #UCFLAE3414L17

Swimmy, by Leo Lionni tells the story of Swimmy, the only black fish in his family of red fish. One day, a tuna fish came by and ate all the red fish with only Swimmy to escape. Swimmy was sad, scared, and and lonely as he searched the sea. The sights of the ocean like the medusa made of rainbow jelly, the lobster that walked about like a water moving machine, and a forest of seaweeds growing from sugar candy rocks, made Swimmy happy again.

Swimmy by Leo Lionni is a great MF RA, S, and SE Caldecott award winning book that would be an excellent selection for your classroom library. A little black fish is stuck in a school of red fish that have all been eaten by a large tuna. Swimmy, being the only black fish finds himself alone and frightened, but eventually he meets many new friends in the ocean. But then he learns their is also still danger, a big fish that eats other creatures.

A few #ocean books from my son's library stack. Swimmy was his favorite, where the little fish learned from his past and helped his new friends stay alive in the dangerous ocean. Amos & Boris also works for #besties . It's the classic lion and mouse parable, except the whale and rat don't start as mortal enemies, and the setting is different. My son bailed on Animal Journeys, which surprised me since he loves animals. #sizzlinsummerbooks
