This New York Times Bestselling book is a wonderful HF for children to read in class as a LC assignment. This website take you to a great lesson plan with activities https://sharondraper.com/stella-common-core.pdf #ucflae3414F17

Jaquessial A UDL strategy that I would use for this book would be 2.1, Clarifying vocabulary and symbols. In "Stella by Starlight" I came across many words that even myself I didn't know what it meant so the dictionary became my friend while reading this book. This would be a great book to test vocabulary words from and for Literature Circles as well. (edited) 7y
Jaquessial Esol strategy number 30, Encourage the use of diagrams and drawings as aids to identify concepts and seeing relationships. "Stella by Starlight" is a great book for using diagrams in the class. So many people are talking And have so much to say in the book that many students might get confused on who is who. So it's always best to make a plot diagram, and a Venn diagram for characters. Students will be able to keep these as a resource to the book. 7y
Jaquessial Teaching strategies: LC, PR, IR, and SR 7y

He hardly ever thinks about his life in the jungle until he meets a new animal from the wild. This fantasy book will touch you in many ways. Couldn't put the book down. #ucflae3414F17

Jaquessial https://www.novelstudies.org/downloads/The_One_and_Only_Ivan_Novel_Study_Preview... This is a wonderful lesson plan for kids to learn new vocabulary. I also thought of some ideas to input vocabulary bingo either as a team game or indivisible game to win prices. While learning their words for the vocabulary test. The one and only Ivan is a HF, B, and F. (edited) 7y
Jaquessial For Esol strategy 48,Use group assignments, portfolios, learning journals and non-profit options as alternative assessments. This could be an exit ticket idea as well. Having students writing down everything that they learned and a summary of the reading each day so that they won't forget anything. Every day the teacher can ask the students what was yesterday's lesson about and the reading. Helps generate memorization. 7y
