It's here! Number one bestselling author Stephenie Meyer makes a triumphant return to the world of Twilight with this highly-anticipated companion; the iconic love story of Bella and Edward told from the vampire's point of view.
When Edward Cullen and Bella Swan met in Twilight, an iconic love story was born. But until now, fans have heard only Bella's side of the story. At last, readers can experience Edward's version in the long-awaited companion novel, Midnight Sun.
This unforgettable tale as told through Edward's eyes takes on a new and decidedly dark twist. Meeting Bella is both the most unnerving and intriguing event he has experienced in all his years as a vampire. As we learn more fascinating details about Edward's past and the complexity of his inner thoughts, we understand why this is the defining struggle of his life. How can he justify following his heart if it means leading Bella into danger?
In Midnight Sun, Stephenie Meyer transports us back to a world that has captivated millions of readers and brings us an epic novel about the profound pleasures and devastating consequences of immortal love.

This was pretty slow-moving (as was the original, I believe), and I didn‘t think this one was as good, but it was interesting from the other point of view. I know some people found Edward‘s stalking of Bella creepy, but I didn‘t see it that way in the original. Cont in comments...

LibraryCin It really stood out from Edward‘s POV, though, since we could now see how often he really did watch her! The book really didn‘t pick up much until the baseball game, but things moved quickly after that. I sure don‘t like Rosalie! I listened to the audio and, overall, I‘m rating it good 1y

The picks for M and N are Midnight Sun and Never Let You Go. Midnight Sun was everything I waited 12 years for. I was so sad when Meyer halted the release of it back in 2008.
Never Let You Go was a gripping domestic thriller. It had me guessing and at the edge of my seat!

Honestly, I loved the nostalgia of this book. I felt like a teenager reading it. I loved reading Edward‘s perspective. It‘s a fun and easy read. I would pick it up if you were obsessed with twilight during its heyday.

When Meyer released this novel, I was a bit curious. I decided to give it a chance. And you know what? I like it. Yeah, it's not a perfect romance, but since when does media have to be morally pure? Sometimes a story is just a story, not a lesson in ethics. Meyer's prose is lovely and lends itself to easy, fast reading. I got sucked in and I'm really enjoying myself. I guess that makes me a fan again🤷🏼‍♀️ Here's a snippet I liked.

Book 115📚
Absolutely loved this. I loved seeing the story through Edwards eyes and the struggle he goes through deciding if he is good enough🖤
It really shows his fragility in its own way vs how he sees Bella‘s.
Full disclosure - I‘ve only seen the movies (& watch them a lot😂) So I really need to actually read the series!!🤫

I‘d also love a book on Alice‘s backstory👏🏻👏🏻

Finally finished this. I think I have outgrown the Twilight Series or maybe it is because I was always #TeamJacob. Edward's perspective just didn't work for me he is always so negative. 🤐

Yesterday, #MidnightSun was finally cheap enough for me to buy it. There were a few interesting ideas, and I liked the extra insight we got into Edwards family & history (if Meter ever writes a book about Carlisle or Alice, I will storm the bookstore on release day). It was also a bit unintentionally hilarious, due to Meyers writing.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Probably the best #twilight book, although this isn‘t saying much.

GondorGirl "Unintentionally hilarious" is probably the most apt Meyer review of all time! ?? 3y

Midnight Sun was a difficult read. The beginning is filled with Edward second-guessing himself and overanalyzing. While I know being over cautious is necessary for him when he first meets Bella, it still felt like filler. I almost gave up, until it was suggested I switch to the audiobook. Jake Abel's take on Edward brought me back into the fold.

BethM I was so excited for this. It remains half finished. So much whining and so much unnecessary detail. 3y
BehindthePages @BethM when they finally start dating its much less whining lol 3y

I didn‘t think I was ever going to return to world of Twilight, but I had to see what was up with this long anticipated POV change.

Edward is a drama queen, Alice is amazing, Emmett is the best. Bella is still Bella, but I was a teenager once too so her character is spot on for what she is.

This was more a trip down memory lane than a serious read. It was fun reminiscing, and much easier now I‘m older to see the major red flags in their “love”

I was a fan of Twilight the first time around. I do enjoy Meyer's writing style, characters and descriptions. It was interesting to hear Edward's side of the story, to see Bella through his eyes. Because the events of the book weren't a surprise it wasn't as exciting as it could have been. I loved the glimpses into Carlisle's history and their past before they met Bella. I would love more books focusing on that theme. Still a good read.

This book was boringly predictable. I wish Stephanie Meyer had written about Edward‘a life before he met Bella so that the readers had some surprise and interest in him outside of his mundane love story that we already know about. This book was not worth it, and was too repetitive to be at any point interesting.

Caroline2 Yes! A prequel would be a lot be interesting and makes more sense really. 😬 3y

I gave this an honest go for old time's sake, and genuinely enjoyed the descriptions of vampire life - the Cullens' complicated history, the drama and danger just in being around Bella. The final hunt at the end was especially fun - I made sure I was able to read the last 200 pages in one sitting.

But Edward is 👏SO👏SELFISH👏 and despite pages and pages of him saying how much he loved her, his actions made that love so superficial. Not a fan.
