My Papi Has a Motorcycle | Isabel Quintero
post image

Daisy and her Papi ride around town, looking at current locations and thinking about the past. A good story that looks at familial connections to land and to history, as well as a sprinkling of Spanish words. According to the author, the illustrations are based on her childhood experiences. I found this cited as a banned book on a blog. #BBRC #PictureBook #LetterM

LibrarianRyan interesting. I will have to check it out. 1mo
mandarchy If you look at the city on a map, the road they drive around is truly a perfect circle. My great grandfather raced motorcycles (100+ years ago) and he was from L.A. I like to imagine that he raced there. 1mo
Librarybelle That is awesome, @mandarchy ! 1mo

@Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks ?
Post a favorite book with the letter "M" "N" "O" and tag some friends!

I'm just catching up! So anybody want to play?

CBee Nimona!! I loved it so much ♥️ I think I heard they‘re making a TV show or movie…. 🧐 1mo
Tera66 @CBee I've been hearing that for awhile too. I think it was first going to be a Disney show, but now switched to Netflix. 1mo
CBee @Tera66 yep, just read about it. 2023 release! 1mo

Midnight Sun | Meyer
post image

#LetterM #LetterN

The picks for M and N are Midnight Sun and Never Let You Go. Midnight Sun was everything I waited 12 years for. I was so sad when Meyer halted the release of it back in 2008.
Never Let You Go was a gripping domestic thriller. It had me guessing and at the edge of my seat!

Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks Thank you for playing! 📚 1mo

This is an excellent collection of stories based on Alice‘s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass. Highly recommend to fans of Alice in Wonderland.

A book you‘d recommend whose title starts with the featured letter.

A couple of chunksters for #LetterM and #LetterN
One a very 'me' read. One not. You just never know!
#AlphabetGame @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks

batsy I went with Middlemarch, too! 💜 1mo
merelybookish @batsy If you know, you know. 😉 1mo

vivastory I haven't read either one of these, but I hope to. There is a Middlemarch street here. 🙂 1mo
erzascarletbookgasm I remember saying to myself, I must read Middlemarch soon! That was last year. And I still haven‘t read it. 🙈 1mo
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks Thank you for playing!! 1mo
merelybookish @erzascarletbookgasm To be fair,.it's easy to put off reading an 800+ page.novel. 😄 but I bet you'd like it! 1mo
kspenmoll I loved Middlemarch & would read it again! 1mo
merelybookish @kspenmoll It's the kind of book you can read and read again! 1mo
Graywacke @vivastory @erzascarletbookgasm I‘m seeing a potential buddy read… 1mo
vivastory @Graywacke @erzascarletbookgasm I'd be completely open to a Middlemarch buddy read! Having read Moby Dick a few months ago I was hoping to read at least one more brick that has been on my TBR before year's end. 1mo
vivastory @kspenmoll @graywacke @erzascarletbookgasm So, I just looked at the TOC for MM & it seems like it would be easy to split up as almost all of the books are roughly 100 pages. How does 1 book per week sound? We can keep the discussions informal & keep any spoilers under tags. Maybe start in Sep & plan on being done by the end of Oct? I'm open to starting it later in the yr if need be 1mo
kspenmoll @vivastory This sounds doable for me- but I have read it a few years ago. What do others think ? @Graywacke @erzascarletbookgasm 1mo
vivastory @kspenmoll @Graywacke @erzascarletbookgasm I'm also okay with stretching it out a bit longer if necessary 👍 1mo
Graywacke @vivastory pace sounds great. I would prefer waiting till October, but can probably manage. 1mo
erzascarletbookgasm @vivastory @Graywacke @kspenmoll Either way is fine with me, either start in Oct or in Sept but stretching it a bit longer. As long as we target to finish before Dec. 1mo
merelybookish @Graywacke @erzascarletbookgasm @vivastory @kspenmoll I just re-read it this last spring,.otherwise I'd join you. But I'm excited for you to read/re-read it! 1mo
vivastory @erzascarletbookgasm @graywacke @kspenmoll Why don't we plan on starting the beginning of Oct with the goal of roughly 80-100 pages per week. People can read at their own pace & just put their comments under spoiler tags w/ informal catch-up discussions after each book 1mo
vivastory @merelybookish I remember you making a comment along the lines of the best final sentence in an English novel. I admit, I'm intrigued! 1mo
Graywacke @vivastory Sounds great! 1mo
Graywacke @merelybookish thanks for inspiring this…and also thanks for tolerating our posts. (It will be a fun buddy read) 1mo
erzascarletbookgasm @merelybookish I‘m excited I‘m going to be reading it finally! And apologies for hogging your comments section 😆 1mo
merelybookish @erzascarletbookgasm @Graywacke Happy to oblige.😀 and I will be interested to read your thoughts as you middlemarch your way through! 1mo
kspenmoll @vivastory October it is & 80-100 pp per week 1mo

#alphabetgame #LetterM #LetterN

I read the Mavis Gallant book of Montreal Stories while in Montreal years ago- I bought it there. We were staying in the city for a wonderful week, right near McGill. Notes on Grief I read when published. I recommend both books.
