Blame It on the Mistletoe
Blame It on the Mistletoe | Beth Garrod

Tweet Cute meets the movie The Holiday in this funny holiday rom-com where two very different girls swap lives for a Christmas adventure. Elle is a social medial star with the #DreamLife...or so it seems. Determined to shake up her content and gain new followers, she's on a mission: can she find a British fan to swap with for Christmas? Holly loves everything about Christmas. But after a mortifying mistletoe disaster with her ex, her perfect plans unravel like a bad Christmas sweater. Can Holly save the holidays when she switches places with favorite social media influencer? Elle gets more than she bargained for when she meets the cute boy from across the street. And Holly wasn't expecting Elle to have a handsome twin brother. This holiday is full of surprises.

Bailedbailed

I can‘t force myself through 20 pages; not going to try any more. Other books await!

Bailedbailed

Nope. Not sure if I‘ve read too many holiday stories or if the YA vibe of this one was the problem but just couldn‘t get into this one. Gave it a try but after 60 pages, I‘m just not feeling it. I do love the cover. #Wintergames #RestingGrinchFace

peanutnine I tried this one last year and thought it was too YA for my taste as well 12mo

I didn't realize that this was YA going in. Normally YA doesn't bother me, I read a bunch of it. But I was really thrown by the characters' lack of maturity here. It was oblivious angst to the point of cringe. Not sure if it was the writing or just my mood but I held out until the switch took place but then had to bail

Bailedbailed

My 1st Bail of 2022. I'm trying to finish up my stack of Holiday Reads. To much Teenspeak and wasn't enjoying the shallowness of Obsession of Instagram Followers.

In it's defense if it was the 1st of December I might have slogged on.

CaramelLunacy What a shame, it's a cute cover. No sense in pushing through if it's not to your taste though. Happy First Bail! 3y
Crinoline_Laphroaig @CaramelLunacy it's a lovely cover. I think I was on a Christmas Cookie Sugar High when I bought it. 3y

Julsmarshall Yep, it was the cutesy speak I could get through either. 3y

Just can‘t get into this-the social media influencer character may just not be for me. Not interested in spending the time to finish it. #BookspinBingo @TheAromaofBooks

This was an adorable and sweet read! I didn‘t realize it was a young adult book until I started reading, but the story is enjoyable for all ages. I loved both Holly and Elle, as well as Elle‘s brother, Nick, and Holly‘s friends, Ruby and Fred. Learning about British holiday foods and traditions was fun too. I received the book in my Authentic Books holiday edition box, along with these other lovely goodies!

This was so stinkin‘ cute, and I loved how—at least for a book where social media features so heavily—the drama wasn‘t overwhelming! I was concerned at the beginning though, that I might‘ve picked a book so hilarious it was functionally unreadable (who else cries when laughing real hard?!). Overall a 10/10 entry into the “we only read jolly YA(ish, at the least) for the holidays” mission.

Stating this and a little under half way done so far

Missusb I started, but it seemed so manic to begin with, and the narrators sounded the same. Will try to get back to it. 3y

Cold night in - that‘s literally what is here tonight. One of the coldest nights of the season so far!🥶 So that means cuddling up with a warm blanket, hot cocoa, and a good book.😆🎄📖 #mistletoemaniacs #wintergames2021
