This #chunkstermini took me all month to read, but it was worth it. Fatland visited such interesting places, and her description of Everest base camp is one of the best I‘ve ever read. I just wish she had tied her journey together or made some conclusions at the end because after a while it kind of seemed like Himalayan resident speed dating. Overall ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Feeling refreshed and ready to take on the week after #HyggeHour

I‘m still working on the tagged chunkster at night, and I‘m determined to finish this month. Sunday nights have helped a lot with that goal.

Tomorrow is my early day at work so it‘s off to bed. Check out my new to me moon lamps I turn on at bedtime. Three of them came my way from various directions around Christmas, and I just love them.

Luckily power came back overnight so it was more of a fun adventure than a dangerous outage. I‘m feeling grateful for a new roof, plenty of blankets and candles, and the people who‘s job it is to go outside in the middle of a storm and fix these things. 3mo

ElizaMarie @Bookwormjillk I lucked out and didn't have any power issues. One of my buddies had a leak in their roof and had sustained damage (which sucks), but we were good. Today has been fine (sunny) but I think we have another winter storm on the horizon -- (I am in Southern Vermont)

We didn‘t get our snow yesterday, but the silver lining was the chance to walk in the sun today. I also got Christmas packed up, and cooked a nice Sunday dinner. Now I‘m settling in with the tagged book and a glass of wine for Hygge Hour. #HyggeHugs #HyggeHour #Naturalitsy #MidWinterSolace

Visited my local library fundraising book sale this morning. (They‘re part of the county library network but volunteer run since threatened with closure a few years ago).

All books were 50p (!) apart from the tagged, which was a whole Q9 because it was on the special ‘posh‘ table. Inordinately flattered to find a fair few of the books that I donated earlier in the week on that same table!

Mostly for hubby but top and bottom for me.

squirrelbrain I already have the Kukafka on Kindle but for 50p a hard copy is always preferable. 5mo

I don‘t know if there is any travel writer I enjoy more than Fatland. Her anthropologist eye appeals to me. In The Border and Sovietstan, politics played an important role in former Soviet and adjacent areas, but in High, where she travels the Himalayas, Fatland interrogates the role religion and religious differences have played in each of the countries in and around the mountain range. I‘m definitely down for whatever she writes next!!

Even though I have yet to read Sovietstan, I had to grab this from the library, Fatland‘s most recent travelogue through the Himalayas.
