Enjoyable. Ends on a cliffhanger, obviously.
This one was similar to the first book, not a huge plot, but a lot of drama with the characters.
I feel like this is setting up a lot for the third book.
Everything that was at a standstill in this one started to unravel at the end. I am hoping the third one wraps it all up nicely!
Just finished Carmilla and on the The Atlas Paradox!!! I‘ve been excited to read this since I finished The Atlas Six. I love the writing, the characters, and the plot. So excited to dive in!!
Also want to add that I love the covers for these books

“People always craved power - that was a constant of humanity, a truer rule than any law of physics. If they weren‘t given power, they took it. And however lofty and moral their foundational creed, people historically did not choose to give it away.”

#serieslove2024 Book 2 in this series was pretty good- the focus is on getting Libby back and what life might be like after their year of research. There are still alliances and betrayals and the ending is definitely gearing us up for what I hope is an epic third book. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ 1/2
This is nearly as entertaining as the 1st book in the series. I did not listen to the bonus short story. I think I was ready to move on but wasn't in the mood for that exactly.

September wrap-up! I finished 9 books, most of them fall-ish reads.
🥇The Atlas Paradox
🥈Such Sharp Teeth
Felt so peaceful getting to read on my roof after work. Also loving this book.
Meh. I will read the next one out of curiosity about Gideon and Libby. I have nearly no curiosity about anyone else.
Like the first book, not too much plot, but tons of character drama. I loved it tho. Some bits left me frustrated bc I wanted MORE. Some bits made me hate the entire world and be flooded with hopelessness. The story/timeline/concept was confusing but not enough to put me off (kinda like the prequel, it‘s just a lot going on). It gives off Umbrella Academy vibes, and like in that show, I just love all the characters. Def worth a re-read.
Oooo it‘s hard to do a second book well but this is great. I was INTO this and that ending just leaves me amped for the next one, rather than wanting to murder the author 😂 I do like the narration except callum‘s a mumbler and that is annoying 😂 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A great sequel but not quite as good as the first!
Surprising 5-star read for me because I liked, but did not love, TAS.
The magic of the first book was character development. The story in this one could therefore credibly go into some pretty fantastic directions. And I fully intend to follow these characters anywhere. I'm torn between Parisa/Callum/Nicolibby for a favorite. Oh and the ending rules. 🤘
I read 10 books in January. And I got a bingo! I finished my #BookSpin, but not my #DoubleSpin.

I liked the Atlas Six, going for Paradox. Haven't heard much about it.
Excellent follow up to The Atlas Six! I did get distracted about 25% in, but once I started listening again I blew through the rest of it. I love all these complicated characters, and I really appreciated that this book delved more deeply into the lesser explored characters from TA6. Full cast recording on point.
Highly recommend this series for Slytherins, fans of Netflix show Dark and/or dark academia genre.
I don‘t even know what to say. I often joke about the anguish of finishing a great book but it genuinely hurts to have finished this book. Despite my mixed feelings towards these characters in the first book, them and their shenanigans have grown on me. This book made me gasp, laugh and led to many a rant to my friends (sorry not sorry) but, my god, was it good.

So this, then, was fate.
She stood before him in the doorway like an angry, avenging goddess.
“Fuck you, Ezra,” said Libby, her chest ragged with anguish.
Olympus was empty and so was hell. The devils were all here, in this house.
She had been wondering if she owed something to the world—some sense of when to stop, to find her limits—but fuck it. What had the world ever done for her?
Nico had been right, all those years ago.
If she didn't use this life, then she was wasting it.
Tristan wanted only to let the bridges he'd burned light the path ahead.
Tristan's heart thudded in his chest, no longer the beat of rage. Well, not rage alone. Not the anger of someone whose father wanted him dead for a price. Nor the fury of a man who'd just fled from Scotland, where he had seen the woman he loved for the first time in a year, and realised he would do anything for her. No, instead it was the agony, the inevitability of a boy who'd been burned, and who had now become a man impervious to flame.
“Libby Rhodes is not your goodness, Tristan,“ she cautioned. Steadying him, as if for dissapointment. “She's her own open flame.“
“The moment you let yourself love, Reina Mori, it will be the death of you. I promise you that.“
No, Nico, I would have lit on fire anyone with even the slightest intention of harming you, and that is the kind of friend I am, when I choose to be a friend. Which I have never dared to dream of doing.
Until you.
“We're not the victims of our weaknesses that you so obviously believe we are.“
What did he think love was—pain? Was that all anyone believed love to be? That if it didn't hurt, if no one pined, then it was as if it did not exist and had never existed—a tree brought down in the forest with no one to hear it fall?
All it took was a tiny fracture to destroy an entire foundation.
“I'm—“ A pause to consider. “Inspired.“
“A lovely word for madness.“
“You can't love anyone, can you?“
(...)
“I've met very few people worth loving.“
Better late than never? I was on vacation over the end of November/beginning of December, so I got off track on updating and switching over my #BookSpinBingo boards.
Here are my final results for November. I finished my #Bookspin (The Atlas Paradox), but not my #Doublespin (A River Enchanted).
“I see. And what can I do for you, Professor?”
“Die,” she said. “Slowly. Painfully.”
“Understandable.”
What could she accomplish without Nico—who was, for better or worse (worse, definitely worse), her necessary other half?
149/150 I'm not sure if I liked this one as much as the first book, but I'd still give it a pick. The six main characters are still rather unlikable, but the do grow and begin to show other aspects of their personalities, which aren't always nice either. I thought the ending was a bit flat, and a cliffhanger of course, but it was entertaining enough to make me want to read the next book in the trilogy (or is it series?) 4 ⭐⭐⭐⭐
“Was any of it real?”
“Who‘s to say what is and isn‘t real?”
I befriended a dreamer so that I, with all of my power could dream for myself.
He missed Libby Rhodes the way he would miss having electricity. Or his left hand. He did not know how to function without her.
