An awkward first date leads to a sparkling romance between one of the most powerful witches in town and a magical newbie in this rom-com by Lana Harper, New York Times bestselling author of Payback's a Witch. Even though she won't deny her love for pretty (and pricey) things, Nineve Blackmoore is almost painfully down-to-earth and sensible by Blackmoore standards. But after a year of nursing a broken heart inflicted by the fiance who all but ditched her at the altar, the powerful witch is sick of feeling low and is ready to try something drastically different: a dating app. At her best friend's urging, Nina goes on a date with Morty Gutierrez, the nonbinary, offbeat soul of spontaneity and co-owner of the Shamrock Cauldron. Their date goes about as well as can be expected of most online dates--awkward and terrible. To make matters worse, once Morty discovers Nina's last name, he's far from a fan; it turns out that the Blackmoores have been bullishly trying to buy the Shamrock out from under Morty and his family. But when Morty begins developing magical powers--something that usually only happens to committed romantic partners once they officially join a founding family--at the same time that Nina's own magic surges beyond her control, Nina must manage Morty's rude awakening to the hidden magical world, uncover its cause, and face the intensity of their own burgeoning connection. But what happens when that connection is tied to Nina's power surge, a power she's finding nearly as addictive as Morty's presence in her life?

I loved Nina and Morty's story in The Witches of Thistle Grove saga. This is book three, and I've got book four on stand-by. I can't wait to read more about the magic of Lady's Lake and get to know more of the characters in this world.

The most delicious treat, I saved this book last year just so I could read it for the holiday season ❄️☃️✨

Doesn‘t matter that October is over, I‘m still into witchy reads. This is the 3rd book in the thistle grove series. Can I just live there? I absolutely love this town and how diverse this series is. This one has Nina as the MC and Morty who is nonbinary. You are only ever in Nina‘s head and she is a Blackthorn… loved this book and can‘t wait to pick up the next one!

I liked this one a lot. Even more spice than the last 2. Nina & her bestie Jessa‘s conversations seemed so familiar, I liked the romance & the dilemma. The series as a whole is fun, the first was the strongest, but I enjoyed my return trips to Thistle Grove.
Finished today while I made this 🕷️

5feet.of.fury @Bklover Thanks! I took up stained glass about a year and a half ago, got more consistent with it around the holidays last year! @Catsandbooks got a pumpkin from me in a swap last year, one of my very early works! Eventually I‘m going to make an art page and sell things. 13mo
Catsandbooks @5feet.of.fury I love my pumpkin!! It's hanging in my kitchen window! I put it up every fall! 🩵🥰 13mo
Bklover Make sure you let us know when you have your page! Stained glass is so beautiful- you are talented! 13mo

#OutstandingOctober Goals! @Andrew65
#ReadingWesteros will finish Game of Thrones on 10/21
Enchanted Hacienda is slightly too tall for my paperback shelf so the only solution is to read it.
I started Back in A Spell & I was really happy & then really annoyed in the first 15% 😂 Parable of Talents on Audio so it doesn‘t take me the forever to read (Parable of the sower was a grind for me) Mysteries, Vampires, Kate & Curran, buttons for eyes.

Andrew65 Great to have you with us, best of luck 😁 13mo

I COULD NOT put down this latest installment of the the Witches of Thistle Grove! I literally cannot remember the last book I tore through in one day, but this was fun sweet and sexy. It would also make a perfect Yule read if anyone is already working on a December list. #scarathlon #skeletoncrew @Emilymdxn

Emilymdxn I LOVE this series 13mo

I love this series so much - I do think this was the weakest of the three so far but still a pick overall. I‘m a big sucker for soulmates/soul bound kind of things, more and more as I get into romance novels more, so this was right up my alley. The writing and the witchiness of the world and all the side characters was so strong.

Having said that, I was confused by the approach to the non binary love interest who was mostly just treated as a man?

willaful That sounds disappointing! Like the author is just trying to jump on a bandwagon. :-( 1y

This was a massive disappointment. I had a few issues but in general this was very lacklustre and the plot was lacking.

The non-binary character was handled poorly. This felt like a m/f romance then the author decided to change one partner to non-binary and not change much of the text.

⬇️

PuddleJumper I absolutely hate the magical soulbond trope especially ones that include some kind of compulsion, empathy, whatever that forces the characters together. It feels like mystical date rape.
