4.25/5 ?????
"She's going to want to wear your skull for a hat," Oak warns.
There is an uncomfortable shifting among the ex-falcons. Perhaps they are recalling their own choice to denounce her, their own punishment.
"And Cardan is going to laugh and laugh when she does."

Loved it! The characters are all different fairies in a wonderful telling of a lost queen trying to get back to herself.
My daughter chose this one and we both liked it. Unfortunately, she didn‘t know it‘s a spinoff from The Folk of the Air series. Now we have some new books on our TBR lists.
dnf because i accidentally saw a spoiler and normally i wouldn't mind but you're telling me our favorites, our ABSOLUTE BELOVED FAVORITES JUDE AND CARDAN are the villains of this story. im flashing back to my anger over harper and rhen being the antagonists juts fcking randomly yea not doing this again
Loved it! Was so happy to be in Elfhame again! Need to read the next one at once! 😍
Starting this at last! Can‘t wait to jump back into Holly Black‘s world of faerie and Elfhame ✨
Easy “read,” but admittedly I listened exclusively on audio book. Story line is very PG and at times hard to follow. Character development is So, So; could be more descriptive since they are “fairy folk” and ultimately mythical creatures. My 11 year old may have loved this one, I almost quit a few times…
I love all of Holly Black's books!
I really enjoyed the story of Wren. It's so sad and intriguing.
And, of course, Oak is so charming.
I liked all the characters and the fast-paced story.
I can't wait for the next book!
#somethinggoldonthecover
I purchased the gorgeous Fairyloot edition of this book, because I felt like it would go better with my LitJoy Folk of the Air set, and I loved the Oak and Suren artwork on the cover. It is very pretty with gold edges, gold foiling on the case, and illustrated end papers of Suren.
I‘ll have to do a re-read before The Prisoner‘s Throne comes out.
Wren was so different than Jude but I loved her. And maybe even more for that reason. I couldn't anything else than love Oak, he was charming.
I love this world with it's different creatures even though I hate all those promises they make. They never are good signs but I love to be on edge while reading.
Pacing was perfect. I was quite intrigued to see through this adventure and I loved to try to guess what's coming next.

Part of the “Folk of the air” series. 4⭐️out of 5.
The story is set after the actual trilogy. Many characters to explore, even more schemes to unravel. Get to know Oak and Suren from a new POV. Personally, I‘m not the biggest fan of Holly Black‘s writing style, which made me push through some chapters, but the story itself is definitely worth it. Until the last minute I didn‘t know whom or what to believe. I‘m super excited for the second book.
So glad to be back in the world of Elfhame for this spinoff series starring Oak and his childhood friend Suren. They are on a quest and don‘t quite trust each other - as is typical for faerie. I enjoyed both points of view and can‘t wait for the sequel!
Back to Elfhame I go! 😆
It was great returning to Elfhame but I wish I had double checked my belief that this was a stand-alone because I am now left waiting for the sequel to come out so that I find out what happens next. Wren was such an interesting character, part fierce Fae, part traumatized girl. Cannot wait to see what her next moves are.

If Jude and Cardan aren‘t in the next book, Holly Black better hide her address because I‘m coming to ask some questions. I do really like the new focus on these books being Suren and Oak though.
If you enjoyed The Cruel Prince then you will eat this up! I loved revisiting Elfhame and Wren is a badass that gives Jude a run for the crown. The ending was super satisfying but I'm looking forward to what happens next.
I think readers definitely benefit from already being familiar with the world here, but I am intrigued by Wren. I do think this could move a little slower removed from court and could flounder a bit at times but I still enjoyed myself.
I enjoyed it more than I thought I would, really loved Wren and her story, can‘t wait to see more of her especially now that she has so much power.
I wonder why Jude and the other sisters were so against her and Oak being promised to each other years ago, I guess because of her family, hopefully, they‘ll see how worthy she is now, although I don‘t want her to go too easy on Oak that would be too boring.
There‘s barely any JudeCardan content tho
I loved being back in this Folk of Air realm that Holly Black created. It picks up about 8 years later and is the story of a former heir who was “made” to be Queen and a Prince trying to save his father. The two are from opposite Kingdoms but have a history from when they were children so there‘s lots of trust issues, secrets and betrayals. Combined with magical creatures and cursed settings it was a fun read. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4 stars! #serieslove2023
Yeah, I‘m dropping it. 45% in and I just can‘t make myself care. The story seems to move slowly too. Shame, I loved all three Cruel Prince books and will reread them again gladly. Maybe I‘ll give this one another try someday but not now.
I enjoyed the other books of hers. This one took me a bit to get through. But I did enjoy it. Glad to read more about oak.
30% in and I‘m not feeling it:(( hopefully it will improve.
I LOVE HOLLY BLACK
NEED SEQUEL NOW PLZ
I do wish I‘d reread the Jude trilogy before this one; I had to read through the Wikipedia summary to make sense of the timeline in this book. Thankfully, it‘s a pretty thorough summary. And I love how tight Holly Black‘s plotting is—that‘s just another example!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ read! I love this world and it was fun to return to it with this new book. Totally sucked me as only Holly Black can do. This one has made it onto my keeper shelf!
WOW! I loved coming back to this world❤️❤️❤️ Prince Oak and Wren were both great characters. The tension I felt worrying for them and that ending 🤯😱 also really loved Tiernan and Hyacinthe story. I can‘t wait for the next book📚📚 And Madoc is still like the most interesting fictional father his relationship with his kids is so complex and fascinating.
Loved the folk air series. Super excited about this one!
Look what came in the mail today... Omg I am so excited.
There‘s just something so intriguing about the fae. I think that it‘s the way that Holly depicts their true nature. It might be the fact that the stories are crafted so well that I can never gauge how it will end and what the twists will be. Those are my favorite tales to read. I changed my mind about Wren. I really like her. Five stars out of five stars. #thestolenheir #hollyblack
The art is a little hard to see in this tiny screenshot but I adore it 😍
I prepared for this release by re-reading The Folk of the Air trilogy and How the King of Elfhame Learned to Hate Stories. Going from seeing Oak and Suren as kids to now young adults made reading this book all the more enjoyable with that background fresh in my mind. I did figure out parts of the plot early, but it didn‘t diminish my love for this tale. Oak and Wren have great chemistry, and it was fun to see new courts like the Court of Moths.

Went out for dinner after work today and had the most delicious chicken hibachi at my favorite restaurant! Mmmm! 😋 Had to bring one of my current reads as I'm hoping to finish it tonight! 💕📚 #bookndinner
“Perhaps it is Oak who is the fool, who caught a wolf and thought that by putting it in a gown and speaking to it as though it were a girl, it would become one.”

Look what I found underneath the dust jacket! 💙🤍💙
Holly Black once again starting an Elfhame book with a poem and a beautiful illustration! 💕📚
I‘m 71 pages into this book. I really like but then again I love Holly‘s stories. #HollyBlack #TheStolenHeir
Super pumped for 2023! Great challenges planned for the year and two of my favorite authors are releasing new books! Went a little lower on my reading goals this year because my baby girl is due in March, but I hope I can keep up with my reading despite adding a new born into our crazy routine! 😁
#NewYearNewBooks I loved this prompt! S/O to @KateReadsYA for the tag! If you‘d like to participate, she has posted the empty template on her page!
